So my birth story is really about my doctor being an idiot. My original doctor (OF COURSE!!) was on vacation when I went into labor. I was dialated to 1 for about a month before the contractions started. I had random contractions for about 3 days vefore active labor. I kept going inot the hospital only for them to say I wasn't dialated enough yet. So finally, I was fed up and stormed into the hospital and said...either admit me or cut him out. So they checked me and wouldn't you know it, I was at 4. So they admitted me at 5:55p.m. to room 555 on floor 5. Weird I know...I got the epidural almost immediately and felt much better. So we waited and watched the election. (Nov. 4, 2008) Come to find out my doctor was on vacation and I had to have a male doctor who messed up my MIL's D/C before. So I already know...he's not very smart. So I'm dialating at a fairly quick pace and he says he's sure I will deliver by 9p.m. I didnt so he decides he's going to go home to watch a footbal game. I say to him...alright but you're gonna miss the birth. He assures me he'll make it. Idiot...so I finally dialate to 9 1/2...At this point my epidural is still going to where I can't feel contractions...but I feel like pushing. So everyone who says that you're all doped up and can't feel anything is lying because I felt enough to push and I didn't feel like I was on drugs AT ALL!!! So the nurse finally says she's gonna try and push the half that isn't to ten over...and it works. So I'm at ten and ready to push and the doctor isn't back yet. So the nurses proceed to tell me to wait for the doctor. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!! I say f*** that and start pushing and my husband tells the nurse to catch. So his head is almost out when the doctor comes into the room with no scrubs on and HOLDS THE BABY'S HEAD IN!!! LIKE LITERALLY!! So I stop pushing...and I get really calm. And I tell him...move your hand before I kick you. So he moves his hand and I deliver my son at 12:22a.m. on November 5th, 2008. Okay...so when they broke my water, there was meconnium.(sp?) The doctor did NOTHING about it. So when I left the hospital a whole 1 day later, I couldn't walk very well. I thought it was just because I pushed a 9lb baby out of my body. So after being home for a few days, It got worse until I couldn't walk at ALL!!! I had to be taken out of my house in an ambulance. I had a horrible uterine infection where I almost died. I stayed in the hospital for 7 days. During my stay, my son started throwing up and had a 103 degree fever. My husband brought him to the emergency room and they did a lumbar puncture and started him on an IV and found out he had E.Coli. He stayed in the hospital for 13 days. All could have been avoided If the doctor would have started us antibiotics after I delivered. He is now under a few malpractice suits from not only me but a few other new moms. But now we are both happy and healthy!!!
