5 month old left in hot car for 2 hours!

that makes me think about an outrageous story i heard on the news about a year age. A PEDIATRICIAN!!! at childrens hospital or cardinal glennon in st. louis (where i live) left her baby in her car because she "forgot" about the baby!!! i cant understand that, she had dedicated her life to helping children and she kills her own by stupidity. obviously there are some people out there that just should not have ever had kids!!!

A PEDIATRICIAN???? IS SHE DUMB??? what is wrong with these women, okay i got inot my car yesterday after work and oh my gosh was it hot i could barely breathe it almost made me throw up to think of an infant in that for 2 hours!!!!!!!!

Ok, I understand that some irresponsible parents have to run to drop of the mail or pick up a pizza - I would never do that either, but 2 HOURS? That is child abuse or some sort of post partum depression. I had mild PPD, and I was forgetfull, but I never stoped thinking about my baby, not one minute.

So people are just plain stupid!!!!!!!!!! How could you just forget? Thats just an exucse for complete laziness and neleget. I hope they fry her!! Stick her in a hot car with not air or water for 2 hours and let her seee how it feels

NJO KIDDING!!! yeah we all get forgetful but that's no excuse to just leave your 5 month old baby in a hot car for that long duh duh duh, she makes me mad i hope i hear someone make an excuse for why it happened!!

when I was younger, living in Daytona Beach,FL, this happened all the time.My dad is a cop, and when he would see this, he would call his chief and they would come right away. I dont think any ever died, but STILL!! Once, we were in an Olive Garden parking lot, and we saw the parents go inside, so we sat in the car waiting to see how long it would take the parents. The parents were gone for about 45 minutes[we went in after a while and saw the parents leave]The kids were about 5, 3, and 6 months. Only one window was down about an inch!

Although I am not without fault (I did forget my child when unloading crap out of my car once, but I realized my mistake almost immediately... life can be chaotic sometimes when you have a whole herd of kids). But 2 hours??? That was NOT an "oops, I forgot" new mommy moment. That was something that was intended, such as going grocery shopping and leaving your child in your car because it is too much of a pain to put them in the cart.
I had a babysitter/home daycare lady that would take all of us kids to her friends house, in the summer in Texas, and leave us in her old mini van (no ac, no windows...) for God knows how long. We were older, too, but I was afraid of saying anything. That babysitter was extremely abusive, which is probably why I am unable to cope with leaving my child in a daycare (not all daycare or babysitters are bad, don't get me wrong).
There are times that I have gone up to my car (after grocery shopping or something) and look over in the car next to me, only to see a sleeping infant, or small children inside. No parent. I will wait until the parent comes out, b/c if something were to happen to one of those children, and I knew I just walked away, I'd never forgive myself.
On the flip side, I also would not push judgment against mothers who have lost a moment in time and walked into the post office or gone inside the house and left their sleeping infant in the car for a few minutes because they did honestly forget. Until you've done it, it is easy to say "shame on you!" But, like I said, noone is without fault--and I beat myself up about that one incident pretty badly. Life does get you sometimes, and people do forget things (have you ever locked yourself out of your car?), sleeping infants included. Not for 2 hours though. That wasn't forgetting. Parenting is not perfection, and people make mistakes. So please be careful when you throw that stone, because God forbid, you forget, you'll feel pretty cowed.
Just remember before you tear me to shreds that I am not saying the mother of that poor child should be excused. She should be charged and held accountable.

yeah this was pure neglect, i'm not really ready for parenting moment! but i guess i've never been in the situation so....but i watched the news last night and they charged her with neglegent homicide and she has to do so many hours of community service, probabtion, and she has to attend parenting classes with her husband, so i gues she deserves what she got, right?

Idiot isnt even the word to describe these people.
"2" hours, come on. You have got to be kidding me. I dont understand how people in this day and age, even leave their kids in the car for 2 minutes alone, let alone 2 hours. I take my daughter (4 years old) out of the car, anytime I run into a store, gas station, etc. I dont leave her alone in fear that in the 1-2 minutes Im gone, something could happen. I could never forgive myself for being too lazy to take her out and put her back in.

The car could catch fire, someone could lose control and hit the car, someone could steal the car, etc.

It just isnt worth it for 1-2 minutes of convenience.......
