Always use sunscreen with a high SPF. She is just tanning as is natural when exposed to the sun. However, too much sun exposure, especially if it leads to sunburns, can eventually lead to skin disorders as an adult. So, always put sunscreen on your child according to bottle directions.

If you are worried about damage to the skin, like skin cancer, use a good sunblock for kids that blocks both UV-B and UV-A any time she goes outside. If you are worried about the color of the skin then there is not much you can do about the color you are born with, though if any thing would help I would guess it would be sunblock.
