    Question Clomid success?

Hello, I am new to this site. I was wondering if anyone had success with Clomid? How many cycles? And I've heard of women using Mucinex or Robitussin to help with CM, any luck?

Hubby and I dated for a few years and then got married when I was 18. We lived in a small apartment to save money and we were able to pay off credit cards, his personal loan, and both of our cars. When I was 19, we bought a house and have been ttc for about a year and a half (yes, I'm young, but please save the age-related lectures). I started taking prenatal vitamins 3 months before I went off The Pill since I thought since we're young and healthy we should conceive quickly and I wanted to have plenty of folic acid in my system. Wrong!

My cycles last anywhere from 40-70 days (sucks when "timing is everything"). I finally saw my OBGYN and she told me that I'm probably not ovulating. Blood tests confirmed that my FSH was low so the Dr was right. I had a painful HSG to make sure my tubes were ok (they are, hallelujah). Hubby gets to donate a "sample" today and if everything looks good then I'll start Clomid my next cycle.

Any ladies have success with Clomid/low FSH? How many cycles did it take? Did you pair it up with anyone (Robitussin, Musinex...)?

I was like you... I had very irregular cycles. My husband and I tried on our own to get pregnant for 2 years with no success. Finally in Jan. 2007 my doctor did laparoscopic surgery to check my tubes. He found some endometriosis. I was also diagnosed with PCOS.

In Feb. we started Clomid. A friend of mine got pregnant on her very first cycle of Clomid but I didn't have that luck. It took me about 8 cycles of Clomid, while gradually increasing it before I finally became pregnant, but I had a miscarriage. I took 2 months off from trying and went back on Clomid again in Jan. of 2008. This time I tried for 3 cycles with no luck.

I decided to see a specialist in April of 2008. We were going to do IUI in May after I started my period, but I ended up getting pregnant in April on my own. I actually was already pregnant when I saw the specialist for my consultation in April, but I didn't know it at the time. But, I have heard that if you're on Clomid for several months that sometimes taking off a month works and I guess that worked for me.

Good luck and don't give up!!!

Thank you for your encouraging words. Congratulations on conceiving without any help! Isn't it funny how things work out? I am very nervous about the Clomid. Did you have any terrible side effects?

I luckily did not have any side effect whatsoever. Neither did my friend. However, another girl I know said she had many psychological side effects. I did not notice anything like that and I was up to 3 pills per day.

I also forgot to mention before that my doctor told me to take Mucinex as well for my cervical mucus.

    I am a Clomid baby.
My parents were married in the mid 70's and had problems conceiving, so after a while, my mom's OB/GYN put her on Clomid. She took it about six months before becoming pregant with me (almost 7 years after my parents got married) and then a few years later, when my parents decided to try again, she took one dose of it and became pregnant with my brother. This was all in the early 80's and I'm thankful for it. It may end up that I might need to take it as well, but we are having too much fun trying without anything!
I haven't heard of using Mucinex or anything like that, but I imagine it might help to thin the mucous...If it works, let me know! Good luck to you!

I have never used Clomid, im about to start femara and ovidrel shots if im not pregnant this time without taking anything. Hubby and i had same situation as you. high school sweethearts, married at 22, tried to start fam right away, bought first house at 19. took 5 years with 1st, but i was unwilling to budge from my no medical intervention thoughts back then. Did the painfull dye/ tube test and follicle study and got real lucky with this, not working out this 2nd time around. have looked into femara and ovidrel and have a friend who currently is pregnant on this as well. she conceived 2nd cycle. hoping i dont need it, that i am preggo already but if not will give this a try and see how it works. seems to be safe as long as it is taken very early in cycle. Good luck and dont give up, I know it can be very tough to keep going month after month hoping and then not. Ive given up a few times over the past 18 months, im not gonna lie, but then my Dr and hubby get me back mentally and start all over again. sometimes mentally and ohysically you need a month or two off from worrying about it.

I have an amazing 15 month old son that was conceived using Chlomid. We were trying for 2 1/2 years...we had to try on our own, then I had surgery, I had an HSG as well, and lots of other testing. We took Chlomid for 3 cycles: the first cycle- no luck, the second cycle- miscarriage at about 7 wks I was heart broken but the dr insisted right away would be the best time to try again. The third cycle- Pregnant with my baby boy! I know it doesn't work for everyone, but stay positive! ---as for the mucinex I wouldn't suggest it, you can't take mucinex when you are pregnant, so why would you want to take it while you are ttc?
