Thread: Weight gain

    Default Weight gain

How much weight did you gain during your first pregnancy? 36 weeks and I'm already at 35 pounds! I'm worried I'm going to have a gigantic baby that won't fit!

I gained 38 pounds with my first and he came out at 8 pounds. I than gained 50 pounds with my second and he came out at 8lbs 5.2oz. My midwife always told me something I appreciated....your body makes itself the perfect sized baby for you. Try to keep that in mind.

I gained about 67 pounds with my first one, but I had geststational diabetes, and problems with blood pressure and was swollen alot and spent the last 3 weeks of my pregnancy in the hospital on complete bed rest delivered 4 weeks early she was a 7 lb 15 oz preemie. Don't worry about weight gain just a healthy baby. When I delivered I went down to 115 lbs just 15 lbs. more than my pre-pregnancy weight and at 6 weeks was back to 100 lbs. It was all baby and fluid. Now I'm only 3 months and has already gained about 17 lbs. my ob-gyn told me not to worry about it I have big babies.

    hi ladies,

I'm 11 weeks along, and haven't gained at all. Should I be worried?

If you're wondering, I am eating ultra healthy food (lots of salads, breads, fruit, meat, milk, nuts and the like). I also eat small meals, often.

Does eating like this cause the lack of weight gain?. Am I not eating enough food? not the right type?

Any advice would be very much appreciated

I was at the high end of my 'ideal weight' and gained 48 pounds with my daughter and she was only 7lbs 15oz. All of my Drs told me that my baby was going to be at LEAST 9lbs! The good news is that all of the weight plus 10lbs has come off since chasing her around as a toddler with relatively minimal effort. Good luck!

    Xian,

Keep doing what you are doing. With my first pregnancy, I wasn't gaining much weight at the beginning and when the nurse made a comment, I started eating a ton and gained 45 pounds. You should be eating an additional 300 calories than before. If you are still concerned, I would bring your concern up to your doctor, but I think you are fine.
