    Question Grinding of the Teeth

Ok all.. I need some help. My son has been grinding his teeth for a few months now.. and it grates at my nerves.. I mean it literally sends chills thru my body. It's the worst sound I have EVER heard. Any tips on how to get him to stop?
    thanks!

My son too grinded his teeth. My hubby couldn't stand it, he said it was like someone running there nail across a chalkboard. Actually it took us forever to realize that he was grinding his teeth, we just kept hearing this really weird noise. I don't think we really did anything, just tried to revert his attention. Have you tried a cold damp cloth in the freezer for a bit, I did that for teething but it is something new and exciting! (and cheap) Also I think that we might have squeezed his cheeks a bit. Eventually he stoppped but at 18 months ever once and a while I hear him doing it. But he really just stopped on his own. Our Dr said that it isn uncomon and while babies are exploring they have these really cool things in there mouth that make a cool sound.

kfielder, its like nails ona chalk board to me too. and usually i can stand noises.. but this just.. argh. it grates my nerves i tell ya. lol.
my mom said the same thing your doctor did.. that its new and a cool sound. reverting attenion only works for so long with him.. then he realizes "hey.. iwas doing something that i liked and im gonna do it again!" and then he starts grinding them. (this usually happens within a couple minutes of something else) so then im back wehre i started, finding something to change his way of thinking. i havent tried the cold damp cloth. i may but i know tis just gonna end up the same way lol. thanks for the advice!
