Good to hear your appointment went well Tara! I have my GDT appointment next Wednesday. I can't take the drink home, but I am going in early to get it done as soon as possible. Keeping my fingers crossed

So I found out on Friday that I failed my 1 hr GDT. This morning I did the 3 hour one...I am nervous...ahhhh...yuck yuck yuck. Also, a forewarning..the 3 hour test makes you feel pretty crappy the rest of the day...so if you have to take it be prepared. I ended up working for an hour and then taking a sick day.

UGGH - I know how that is Tara! I failed my first with DD, but passed the 3hr. I am hoping that it is the same for you!

I am going tomorrow for the 1hr one. Not fun! Hope you feel better.

I'm sorry to hear that Tara. Thank you for the heads up on the 3 hour test; if I fail my GTD test on Wednesday I'll be needing that info. Hopefully all works out with the results of the 3 hour test for you.

Taraken, sorry to hear that you failed the 1 hour GDT. My fingers are crossed that you passed the 3 hour! I found out at my appt. today that I passed the 1 hour, so that was good to hear. But, I've gained 24 lbs! Aughh! I did lose like 6 in the first trimester, so I guess, *technically* I'm only up 18. My OB said that I'd probably gain from 35-40 lbs this pregnancy. I only gained 26 with my dd, so I'm a little concerned with the rapidness of this weight gain. I've been trying to chew sugarless gum and eat mints during the day to try to curb my appetite, but that only works for a very short time and then I'm STARVING! I also am measuring at 29 weeks, and I'm currently 27 weeks pg, so maybe it's just the baby going through a growth spurt (that's what I'll tell myself).

Allison -- I am measuring big too. I was 26wks on Friday but measuring 28.5! However, I have only gained 11lbs so far. So, that is good for me. I gained 30 with my dd and am trying to gain a little less since I am 15lbs heavier to begin with this time. I am just trying to remember that every baby is different and your body will do what it needs to do. If I eat well...and still gain, what am I supposed to do????

I am going to for my GDT tomorrow and will get the test results next week at my 28wk appt.

Try not to stress over the weight!

I went in for my GDT this morning, and guess what I did - I passed out on the table before the doc could even measure me. Let's just say the glucose drink paired with laying on my back did not bode well for me. So now I am praying that I passed so I don't have to drink that again! That just wasn't anything I was prepared for. Neither did I expect the baby to react to the sugar so much - it makes sense now, but that was a surprise! She was karate chopping me from every angle! We laughed at all the movement while we waited to get the blood draw (at least we laughed after I woke up . Good luck to everyone else on your GDT!

I am also gaining more weight than I expected, but I'm not stressing over it anymore. I'm trying to eat healthily, but I allow myself to indulge every now and then. I'm also doing a good job with working out to prenatal exercise dvds - one for toning and strength, the other for yoga. I do them more for the back pain relief than anything!

Allison- If your doc isn't concerned don't worry to much. My sister was 110 lbs...gained 35 and lost it all within 6 weeks. I am up 19 (12 if you take out my loss in the first trimester) but I was in the overweight category so the doc told me to gain only 15-25. She said my gain is perfect right now. But I was awful about eating this weekend and will be camping next weekend...so I don't see it getting any better.....so I am definitely nervous. AHHH I have been so hungry the past 3-4 days....so I think there may be some truth to your growth spurt theory.
Lily- I hope your GDT test went well and that your appointment says everything is on track.
Jthomas- Oh my you passed out. I ended up taking the day off after the 3 hour because I felt sooo crappy..(but found out I passed...yeah!!!!) So I don't think that means anything other than...you poor thing!!!!!! That is funny that she is moving so much. Mine was in a coma after the 3 hour test for a few hours. But this weekend...I literally threw up because he was moving soooo much that I felt seasick. I wish I was better with working out. I did really good at first then had hip problems and stopped walking. Now that I have been goign tot he chiro and the hip is feeling better (3 weeks) I still haven't gotten the motivation to get back on the treadmill. That is my goal today. at least 45 minutes...we will see.

    How is everyone else doing?

tara - I am so glad you passed!!! That is fantastic. I found out this morning that I failed the initial test and now have to go for the 3 hr test next Tuesday. Hopefully, this will be the same as DD and I will pass this one. Although I am also measuring big. At 26 wks last week I was measuring 28.5...so this may not bode well for the glucose test. High sugar, big baby...sounds like GD to me...but I still have my fingers crossed!

jthomas - that really sucks. I felt sick after the drink, but I sat there and read my book and went for a walk until it was time to do the blood work.

    Have a great week!

Lilypad, hope you pass the 3 hour! I've heard that A LOT of people fail the 1 hour, but most pass the 3 hour. So, hopefully you'll be one of the lucky ones. I'm measuring big by 2 weeks, so I don't think that necessarily means that you have any higher chance for GD or that the baby will be bigger than normal. I have heard that babies get bigger the more you have though, and my mom told me I weighed a whole pound more than my older sister at birth, so I'm wondering how big this one will be! My first was 7lbs 14 oz. For mommies who already have a child/ren, have you been more or less comfortable this pregnancy? I find myself being MUCH more physically uncomfortable. This past weekend I took my dd to the mall to run around and about 5 minutes into our walk I started getting Braxton Hicks like every few minutes over and over. I ended up leaving and going home to relax and chug water, but I never had BH so early in my last pregnancy, or so often! Seems like if I'm on my feet for more than 15 minutes or so I start having them, which is impossible not to be on your feet with a 21 month old running around! I also have lots of pelvic pain/pressure, like the baby is sitting on my pelvic bone, and a lot more back pain. I also can't wait too long to eat or eat even a little bit too much or else I feel sick. Ok, enough complaining, sorry ladies. I am trying so hard to enjoy this experience since it's probably the last time I'll get to be pregnant (DH doesn't want any more). I hope you all are feeling good!
