Jodee, I am so sorry about your bad news. I lost my first pregnancy and am still timid about this one. At least you know that the both of you can get pregnant and I'm sure the future holds a beautiful family for you. I'll also be thinking of you.

I experienced my first morning sickness today and then discovered an email from parenting saying my nausea may subside. lol - I would love to believe that today was it, but I predict several more mornings with my head in the toilet. My first appointment with my midwife is tomorrow. I'm excited, but a bit scared, too.

Jodee - I am so sorry for your loss. That too is my fear - especially since I don't FEEL pregnant. I was this way with my first too, but it still scares me. You are in my thoughts and prayers and I hope that you soon find your way through this and onto trying again. Good luck.

As for me, I had blood drawn yesterday to start things going. I am now waiting for a call to schedule my first appt. with the Advanced Maternal Age clinic so they will do the initial ultrasound.

Hope everyone else is having a good day.

Hi everyone! My name is Leah and I am about 6 weeks pregnant and due Sept 30th. This is my 4th baby, but my first with my husband (I have 3 from a previous marriage and my husband has 1 from a previous marriage). Because it's been 7 years since my last birth as well as the fact that this is my first pregnancy with my husband, things will be very exciting for us!

My last birth was at home, but I'm planning for a hospital birth again this time (don't want to scare daddy to death... he isn't as comfortable with it as I am!). I am just trying to relax and enjoy before my morning sickness hits (it would be great if I could escape it this time, but I am doubtful!).

I am thinking I will tell my parents this weekend...? My 12 year old daughter knows but my 2 sons don't... I just don't know how long I can hide it! Unfortunately, I am also not sure how my mom will react... my daughter is so thrilled and is expecting my mom to show the same reaction... for my daughter's sake, I hope she acts as thrilled as is expected. It would be terrible if my mom brings my daughter down by showing little to no excitement! Can you all tell I am worried? That brings up another thing... I am emotional these days!

Glad to see you all on here!

    Default 1st Prenatal appointment

    Hello Ladies,

My name is Veronica expecting our 1st baby due date is September 23rd,and we are so,so excited. So glad I found all of you, reading your posts has helped answer some of my 1 million questions
I'm 7 and half weeks and had my 1st doctor's visit today. I got a blood test that will check my progesterone and HCG level but some books & sites including this one mention that on your 1st appointment you get a series of tests to check Blood count, screening for RH Factor, Hepatatis B, Antibodies to German Measles, chicken pox, Urine Test. Was my testing too vague? I would appreciate feedback on what tests/screening you had on your 1st doctors appointment. I have an Ultra sound scheduled for next week.

    Hi all,

My name is Ana and we found out we're pregnant with baby #1 on 1/15 - we are both very excited as well as a little scared. The online calculators are estimating my due date as 9/21; however, I hope to find out for sure on 2/12 when I go in for my first appointment.

I don't have any morning sickness but I am exhausted all the time (which is very unlike me). To top it all, I change jobs on 3/1, have to sit for an exam in the next month or so and am taking a couple of college classes (working on a second degree). I hope I can stay awake for it all... LOL

I look forward to sharing my experiences with all of you and finding out about yours. Hope all of you are doing well!

Jodee~ I am so sorry. It must be very hard. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your DH.

Sunny~ I hope it isn't too bad. I had a rough few weeks, but I am doing well now...so hopefully it will stay gone.

Lily~ I hope all goes well! I hope your appointments went well!

Leah~ Congratulations! That is wonderful! I am guessing your wife will be excited!

Veronica~ Congratulations! My first appt was on 8wks...exactly. They did an ultrasound and tons of blood tests. We are opting out of all the optional screening...so they were the required tests, RH, STD, all the ones you mentions...+ In addition, they gave us info on classes and two books to read. I already had about 10, so I am a little over-read right now! I would ask your doctor. All those tests are required in the state I live in..so I would be surprised if they don't do them soon. Did you see a doc or just a nurse? I saw a doc...I was there for about 2 hours..so it may just be how your doc office runs.

Ana~ You have quite a schedule to deal with the first trimester. You will be ok, just make sure you sleep when you can and congratulations.

As for me I am in the middle of week 10. I am doing really well. My morning sickness has been getting better. I haven't puked since Friday which is quite an accomplishment! I am also able to eat my meals instead of drink them. So far 0 weight gain..which is good because I am 15-20lbs overweight. Other than that...just feeling good and getting excited. We get to go to our next appt in 24 days..haha..yes I am counting. At that one we should hear the heartbeat. Anyone start researching baby gear yet?

Hello, my name is Sam and this is my first child, due September 24th. My first appointment is February 16th, so hopefully there's a more accurate date with that one. While I'm hoping for a little boy, a healthy, happy baby is all I'm praying for.

I am currently 19, but will be 20 by the time of the baby's birth, with my (just rencently wed) husband. This will be his second child.

I am honestly terrified, for I feel I am nowhere near ready to be a parent and am electing to separate from the military.

From what (limited) reading I've done, I've learned that stress could seriously effect (or is it affect??) the process. Any tips on destressers other than exercise?

Jodee-So sorry to hear your news. I am glad you are positive about the future and what it can bring. : )

Welcome all those new mommies to the forum.
As for me, I have to report that even though this is my second pregnancy I am just overwhelmed with all the differences this one has from my first. I had zero nausea or morning sickness and with this one. It's all day long and it includes the vomiting. It seems to be getting worst then better as my weeks go by. I don't like any foods except anything that is bland. I have also started getting heartburn which is no fun with nausea. Called my doctor and they suggested B6 for the nausea and pepcid AC for heartburn, so I will go get that tonight. I am also extremely tired, on the weekends I take a nap or two, but then come night time and I can't sleep b/c of the nap/s. Ugh! Also does anyone else have that weid taste in there mouth all the time?? Like medicine or sour type...?? Share your syptoms with me...b/c right now I am feeling like a total weirdo. : (

I'm also having issues with food and heartburn. The food cravings have gotten to a point where i don't even know what it is I'm wanting, but my common choices of meals are making my tummy turn.

Don't feel like a weirdo, though. Everyone is a little weird, which in a sense makes all the quirks normal
