    Question First Time Mom

Hey ladies. I am new to this website and this is our first pregnancy. I'm 37yo and this has not been very easy. The two worst problems has been my fibroids and now it seems I have developed sciatica. Has anyone else suffered from these problems... if so, please enlighten me on what you had to go thru. Praying for all of us to have healthy strong term babies. We found out we're having a boy... my sis is an US tech and gave me a sneak peak at the baby's sex Take care.

Hi LydRen606, I have a 2yr old daughter, and due with my #2 June 5th! When are you due? I have my next ob appt on wed, and was wondering if at mid 16th week I could find out the sex of the baby earlier as a great surprise xmas present to my hubby.
I have fortunately not suffered or delivered with the problems you explained, although my mother did tell me I should get my fibroids checked out during my first pregnancy. Now that you mention something about it, I am wondering why she told me to do so (obviously she had problems back in the day.) I did however have a g/f who had been put on bed rest because of something to do with it, not sure of the details. If I get a chance to talk to her I will find out exactly why and when. Praying you deliver a healthy baby as well.

    Default Feeling a little better

Hey Tmonfet01, Thanks for the reply and the info. I was beginning to feel alone in this blog I am 15 weeks now, but I was able to find out at 14 weeks we were having a boy; that was only because my sis is an US tech. I guess that comes with good perks. We are due on June 15th. My next appt. is in 4 weeks to look at the baby's anatomy/sex with the US at the OB office. Luckily my symptoms are improving... the abd. pain is not as bad (as long as me and Senokot stay close friends) and the sciatica is tolerable. I happened to be at my husband's Christmas party the other night and noticed a 16 week prego at our table wenching her face from time to time... she was suffering from sciatica too. I felt "not so alone" after that. We had some great conversations about our pregnancy adventures we've endured so far. Then, one of my g/fs told me she had sciatica with all 4 pregnancies but she managed. That makes me feel much better knowing others have dealt with what I'm going thru. Have you felt your baby move yet? I do but only because I think he's kicking one of the fibroids. I have figured out that lying on my left side or getting on all 4's and doing stretches helps the pain and discomfort I feel. I guess some of this is trial-by-error. Take care.

I have started feeling the baby move, but its more of the butterfly flapping it's wings at first. Now it's more of a stomach churning feeling. I started feeling my baby move around 13weeks, but as a "seasoned" mom, lol, my dr told me to expect to feel the baby much earlier than a new mom. Which I did.
Glad you've found someone to talk with about it. My friend was of no help, of course. So I'm glad you found someone.

It is actually best for blood flow to the baby to lay on your left side, and stay off your back and tummy. If you start to feel any discomfort with more increased back strain as you get to be a few more weeks in, you can put a pillow between your legs when you sleep on your side, which actually helps with the alignment of your spine and pressure on it.
