Default When was your child's first hair cut

How old was your child when he or she got her first hair cut?

My DD has been mistaken for a boy more often than I can count because she was practically bald until just over a year. Now she has enough to be longer than a boy cut, but it is straggly and sloppy looking all the time. I think today is the day for the first haircut. I am hoping they don't take too much length, but just clean it up a little.

    She is 17.5mo. old.

My oldest son was bald for the first year or so of his life and we got his hair just trimmed enough so that it didn't look straggly at around 18 months. My youngest had sooooooo much hair that we cut it at 7 months, it was getting so long and people though he was a girl. lol

Right around a year for my first, my second still hasn't had one. All kids are different though. If she needs it, do it. I have a friend who refuses to cut her sons hair until he is a year but he has so much hair, he looks like a girl. And in the summer he was always hot and his hair would stick to his face. Cutting it shoudl make it grow back healthier and stronger too.

My first was almost 2 1/2 before she got a haircut and even then her hair was barely to her shoulders, I only cut it because it was really straggly & stringy.

My second was 1 1/2 before we cut his hair and it was only 1-2 inches long in most places. We cut his because he had a couple spots that were really long that liked to stick straight up in the air.

I'm planning to have* my daughter's first haircut when she turns 1. Maybe a trim will do.
