no, I haven't had that problem. With both my pregnancies my hormones were WAY high. But do keep us all posted on the results. Thinking and praying for you. Good luck!!

    Question

Thanks Momofhunter for your response, thoughts, and prayers. It's nice to know there are other people out there to talk with

We are staying positive, it is our first pregnancy and it happened on our first try! Considering my husband and I are 33 years old, we were shocked to find out it worked right away. Everything I'm reading online says I'm completely within a normal range of hormones which is definitely calming my worries. I'm just a little confused as to why my nurse would tell me I most likely had a miscarriage. My dr. is associated with Brigham and Women's in Boston which was just rated the #1 hospital in the country for OBGYN care by US News and World Report and he was rated one of the top doctors in Boston. They've gotta know what they're talking about so there lays my massive confusion. Nothing left to do but wait and stay positive.

This is my first time posting on this site. I just found out a couple of weeks ago that I am pregnant with my 2nd child. According to the due date calendars, I'm due on August 3rd. It's nice to know that other moms are experiencing the same symptoms. My bbs are incredibly sore and they don't fit in my bra anymore either! So far, I haven't had too much for morning sickness. With my first, I had a lot of it so I'm hoping that I get by without it this time! I am extremely tired most days though!! We've decided to wait to tell anyone about our pregnancy until Christmas...but it's SOO hard to keep my mouth shut because I'm so excited!! It's my boyfriend's first baby (and obviously my second); He is SOOO excited. He just turned 29 and he's been wanting a baby awhile! We wanted to have about two years between siblings so this worked out perfect. We actually got pregnant after our first try too! I was crazy! But we couldn't be happier!

Hope everyone is well with their pregnancies!!

no your not the only one. With my first pregnancy I was like 3-4 months along before I needed maternity clothes. This one, I am 7.5 weeks and already in them!!! THey say you show sooner with your second. I think your fine, just preggo!!!! I love stretchy pants... much more comfy!!!

Citymom, I will say a prayer for you that everything is ok. Do keep us updated! Congrats to all the new August mommies!

Today I woke up feeling nauseous, but at least didn't get sick. Happy birthday to me! Tonight we had a dinner for my hubby's work. I put on my favorite black cocktail dress and was self conscious all night long! I felt like I was busting out of the dress ladies! Thank God I had a shawl! So far that is the only change in clothes for me is that I don't think I can wear any of my low cut stuff anymore since it fit my pre-pregnancy chest! I'm sure there are worse issues to have! However this is my first pregnancy so I'm not sure I'm the best comparison either.

About the drinking a gallon of water a day, I'm pretty sure that it doesn't have to be only water. Milk and juice have water in them. And food like fruits as well. So it doesn't have to be just water. I would die of boredom if I could only drink water.

Citymom, I think the hospital you're going to is just probably more aggressive in testing than the average hospital. I'm 33 as well and this will be my first child. I had my first ultrasound at 7 weeks but the baby was only measuring 6 weeks so the doctor wants to see me back in 2-3 weeks to make sure it's going ok. I asked the doctor if she wants to measure my Hcg to make sure that it's "doubling" since I had read about, and she said no since I wasn't having any symptoms (cramping/bleeding). She said there is a possible miscarry risk but most likely everything is fine. Because I have a tilted uterus, sometimes the babies are more difficult to measure well. I still have no symptoms and am having this follow-up ultrasound tomorrow.

Some hospitals don't even see you when you're pregnant until around the 12th week, but I do think that some hospitals and doctors (especially teaching ones probably) put you through more questionably necessary tests.

I personally think it is kind of silly for them to test you for hCG levels since you didn't have any symptoms of miscarrying and you didn't have any previous miscarriages. I think that nurse was being a little out of line just because your hCG numbers didn't exactly double. A good doctor takes everything into consideration (symptoms, age, history), not just one number.

And this might ease your mind too: http://www.inciid.org/printpage.php?...terloss&id=241

There's a very wide hCG ranges that are normal as you can see from the chart. And...

"Although most people expect the hCG to double every two days during the early weeks of pregnancy, an increase of as little as 60% is still very reassuring that all is going well."

Thanks Elenash! Your words definitely helped to calm me. I think you are so right about some doctors being more cautious/aggressive than others. And my hospital is a teaching hospital, just about all of them in my city are. I also agree with you that the nurse was a bit out of line, I was SO upset when she told me I most likely had a miscarriage. I called in sick to work for the rest of the week afraid that I could start bleeding at any time and didn't want to be at work if it happened.
I think it's important that we all stay calm and not take the first words from our nurse/doctor to heart until we see cold hard test results. An ultrasound is the most important thing to pay attention to. I'm going tomorrow so we'll see. I'm definitely in the 60% increase so I am in belief that I'm fine.
I hope your u/s goes well, I'll be sending you good thoughts
Congrats to you and all the other mom's to be! This is a time to be excited
