I tried to get creative but could only do so much with daddy being in the military plus he happened to be incommunicado out on the field for training for an entire month when i found out the good news. He could only get reception when he came into town for small errands but he would turn his phone on in that time frame, i knew i couldn't always answer his calls & was too anxious to hold it in any longer. I found a place that made custom shirts so i took a onesie in, had boots & dog tags printed on it with the words "my daddys a marine, what does yours do?" took a picture of that and sent it to his phone. I waited anxiously 4 his response, finally about a week later i received a call, it was complete silence for a minute or two i knew it was him & he had received the pix... Its been pure joy ever since. I hope your moment will be a memorable as ours.
I told my hubby that we were expecting #2 by writing on the mirror with an eyeliner pencil "Hey Babe! Guess What?" and drew an arrow down to the 2 tests I had taken that morning so he would see it while getting ready for work.
I didn't bother doing anything fun or creative with telling my hubby that we were going to be parents...to me how it got done wasn't as important as it getting done... so I just flat out told him I've missed a period(well that was for the first one which ended not long after unfortunately) and took a test which came up positive. The second time I didn't have a period to go by just my gut instincts so I tested again and it was positive so I told him straight up again.
I wasn't all that creative either since it was a complete shocker. I took pictures of the FP test I took the day before, and bought a cute onsie that said 50% mom 50% dad 100% perfect. Made dinner plans with him and told him to close his eyes, popped up the pic and the onesie.
It took him seconds before it sunk it and just said 'you're pregnant?'.
I realized my cat had been staring at my belly for two mornings as I was waking. I tested before work and it was positive!! I couldn't believe it, so I tested again. I was too excited to realize I couldn't go to the bathroom again...obviously that test did not show any results. I bought a test that would say "pregnant" or "not pregnant" on my way home and tested again that evening. Before my husband returned from work, I bought a card telling him he was a father and stopped at our favorite bakery. I told the clerk I was expecting our first child and couldn't decide on a saying...it was between "Congratulations Daddy" or "Way to Go Sperm!" She asked me what I said, so I repeated myself. She said, "I thought that's what you said....hmmm, this is your first child?" "Yes." "I'd go with Way to Go Sperm, when else will you be able to do that!" The young lady who decorated the cake brought it to the front and said, "Hey, I know you, weren't you in my class?" (Yikes!) I arrived home with the card and cake in hand, set it up in our kitchen with the tests and called my husband into the kitchen. I snapped photos as he read the card (love his look of shock) and then his face as he asked, "are you serious?" Then the smile on his face once he realized we were expecting. I then moved to expose the tests and cake...more shock!
Well, I tested at work one morning, so I had a whole work day to plan out my approach. I used a due date calculator and found out I was due the week before Christmas (12/18)... so I went and bought a onesie and a little kid's baseball glove and printed the due date calculator page (it also gave how far along the trimster breakdown, etc) and put them all in a Christmas gift bag and told Hubby I had an early Christmas present for him and I just couldn't keep the secret any longer (I'm bad with secrets of all types) and sat back to snap pics of his reaction... the smile on his face was humongous!!!
I had just gotten home from a business trip. I had felt terrible while out of town and instantly knew. So when I got back I took two tests... POSITIVE. SO when my husband got home from work we ate dinner and then I gave him a box neatly wrapped in Christmas paper. I told him it isnt Christmas yet but I want him to open this gift. He ripped the paper off opened the box dug through the tissue paper to find a note that said "open me". The note read, "Hunter is going to be a big brother!" (Hunter being our first son) Tears flowed and we will never forget that day.
We had been planning our little guy, so Daddy was with me when I took the test. We waited the 3 min(or whatever is was!) and he made me look first. He said " so, what does it say???" I told him, "It says you're gonna be a daddy". He started to cry....so naturally I did too!! LO is the first for both of us, we can't wait to be parents!!
They day i found out i was pregnant was very nerve racking.....i was so scared....neither one of us were ready to be parents. I took a home pregnancy test and then i couldn't bring mysef to go back into the bathroom and read the results...so I had to make HIM do it. lol so thats how he found out we had a baby on the way
With my first one We were young and went to a clinic I was about 4 weeks late but my nerves wouldn't let me pee so we decided to go get some food and go back... on the way I yelled pull over before the car stopped i had the door open and got sick on the side of the road. He said well I guess luch is out and i replied its ok im just pregnant and i really want a cheese burger now. (i never get sick even with the flu)
Now I am about 35 days late! I took 2 home test back in the end of Nov. that were neg. He has had a feeling that I am. I've got a DR appointment next week and will see. I was hoping the home test was a pos so I could do something along the lines of when were in bed holding his hand over my belly and saying "you know what?" "WE love you" and hope he catches the WE part. Or telling him that he is going to make an amazing dad in X ammount of months.
