I'm so glad your baby is doing well! I understand your getting a little upset. I'm getting ready to go to my own u/s right now and I'm feeling a kind of fluttery. I've had a bunch of quick u/s by now because of bleeding problems and I'm nervous every time that I might find out something scary, but since my last one was Saturday in the ER and the babes were fine, I'm not too worried this time. But the gender thing. All along I've been eager to know but today I'm wondering if I'm ready to deal with what I might learn. It's not that I want girls more than boys or vice versa. It's just that finding out for sure means I can no longer dream about whatever gender I'm not getting anymore. Does that make sense?

I'm sure this little boy will be your treasure, will love his mommy to pieces, will always want to do everything like his worshiped big brother and dad and will make them both feel like kings, and will grow up to be a wonderful man (and the world needs more of them, don't you think?). Congrats!

It looks like... one of each! To be confirmed, of course. I'm just barely at 17 weeks and the babies were being shy about being photographed in the nude. We got to see each of their faces in 4-D for a moment! They look healthy, though the girl is still a little bigger and tougher than the boy and has a larger head than he does. I'm so happy and relieved that they're OK.

Awwww congrats.. One of each... cant get much better than that.. When will you get another ultrasound? I can get one at 26 weeks for $125 because it is in
4D. I think Ill wait until the 36 week ultra sound but that is also in 4D because everything looks good and that one at 36 weeks is paid for.
Aww I am getting so excited
Now we got to figure out names My little boy will be Jacob something... and he will go by his middle name. Jacob is my husbands middle name and my father inlaws name. My son nows named John Grant. and goes by Grant.. John is my dads name

It's so cool to be able to talk about names with you now! I really like Jacob, and Jacob Evan especially. Brooks goes well with it. Or Jacob Ethan. And I would have loved to name one of my kids John (after my grandfather, my brother, lots of other guys in the family) but it doesn't work well in French and I'm trying to find names that are more or less the same in both. We're definitely going to name them after family members. It feels like giving them something solid, like an heirloom, and honoring people I love.

We're thinking Mary after my mom. Maybe we'll call her Molly. Middle name still to be determined--I like Mary Ruth. Mary is a little exotic here but fine in French. They pronounce it just like Marie. But Ruth is pronounced kind of like Root, but much more harshly. I also like Frances, which was my grandma's middle name and is mine, too, and my husband's first name is the masculine version of it in French, but Frances doesn't work well in this country. People just look at my middle name with confusion and say, "France in the plural? Huh?" And I don't much like Francoise, the French version. My husband really likes Anna, which is nice, too.

I had less trouble thinking of a boy's name. My two brothers' middle names are Joseph and Daniel, identical in French and in English. I guess I can't really name twins "Mary and Joseph" but Daniel Joseph works. My brother often goes by Joseph, too.

I live in France, near Paris. Now I'm home in California. That was the hardest flight ever! I had a long ride to the airport, a stopover in Texas, and delays...and it turned out to take more than 24 hours to get here. I am so tired and I ache all over. But I got to go see my sister and her new babies yesterday. It was kind of a shock. She looked so pale and weak, and I'd never seen such tiny newborns. They are just beautiful, though.
Take good care of your little Jacob ______ (fill in Brooks/Evan/?)!
