We picked Dakota up for our visit this weekend on Friday, after just having taken him back after a week and a half visit a week ago today, and his mother tells us that she FINALLY took him to get his 12 month booster shots. This is the first time he'd been to a doctor while staying with her for quite a few months. His mother told us that the doctor told her that Dakota is severely underweight and she (the doctor) is really worried that he'll "drop off" the growth chart. So, according to her, she is suppose to feed him the equivalent of 2 sticks of butter a day in order to help him gain weight. She told me that while we have him, he should be eating 2 slices of cheese a day, drinking whole milk, and eating three full meals a day. We typically feed him three full meals a day and two snacks, one in the morning between breakfast and the afternoon between lunch and dinner. He gets whole milk while he is with us, not positive what he was getting before the doctor's visit while at his mom's. He has another check-up next month, and she told his dad, my fiance, that he should gain 25 pounds in the next 3 months. That sounds a little quickly to me, since he's only at 18 pounds now. Any ideas how we could help him to gain a little weight while staying healthy?

Hi,

My name is Maria, and I have a five year old son who actually loves to play video games. I am also in college and writing a paper on the effectiveness of the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) rating system on video games. I just had a few questions if anyone is willing to help me out. I am mainly asking other parent's their views on the effectiveness of the rating system, and whether there should be any changes. Also, if any parents out there who have seen games that may have been mis-rated, please let me know. This would be of great help to get some feedback from other parents. Thank you for your help!

Hi everyone,

I am currently a graduate student in a childhood ed/special ed program. I am involved in writing an Inquiry project on a controversial issue. I chose to write it on the correlation of immunizations and autism. I am right now working in a school for children that have autism and since there is no known cause at the moment of why children have autism I am curious to see what parents think. If anyone could please write back and answer the following questions it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!! Diana

1. Do you think immunizations cause autism?

2. Do you think there is anything doctors can do? Should they do anything differently in trying to find the reason for autism?

3. Do you think there will be a cure?

4. Do you have your children immunized? Why or why not?

Okay i have 2 babies right now. a 21 month old and a 6 month old. after my first, getting pregnant was the most terrifying idea to me. when i messed up on my birth control I was depressed my whole pregnancy, I kept worrying about how would i feel and how would i handle 2 babies under two. after i had the baby my mom was here for a week, and when she was about to leave i was freaking out. i think i cried for a week straight after she left from how scared i was to raise two babies. but about a month later i was overly confident in myself. so for the past 3 months i've been thinking i want another baby. But i'm not sure if thats what i really want or if thats my sleep deprivation talking. I know i'm going to hate pregnancy, i am not one of those women who like it for them self. it a beautiful thing on someone else, not for me. I know i can do child birth, i think child birth is the most exciting part of this miracle. But I dont know if i'm crazy. I really want some advice.

I just wanted to brag for a moment about my smart little girl and I didn't know where else to share it!

Today at daycare, while I was talking to her teacher, my DD was scribbling on a piece of paper next to me waiting to leave. Meanwhile, the teacher was changing another child and a third child was calling out "puppy, puppy, puppy!" I asked the teacher if he was reminding my DD to grab her stuffed puppy because we were leaving and my DD is the youngest in the class at 17mo. The teacher said that he is also very attached to a stuffed puppy of his own.

Moments later, my DD puts down her pen, goes to the little boy's cubby, grabs his puppy, and walks it over to give to him. Then she came back and happily went back to scribbling on her paper.

I don't know how smart that actually is, but I was proud of her! And so I had to brag :)

I am back. Though Im sure noone really remembers me but I had a beautiful baby girl in July. Ill post updated pictures in a little while. Ok so I am on BC. Yaz is the brand. Been on it since 4 weeks after her birth. Ive taken it everyday same time never have missed. I have 4 alarms set around the house to remind me everyday. The first two months I got what I thought was AF it was more blackish than red or pink (TMI im sorry but needed to explain) then nothing for the next two months. I would get the cramping and all things that go along with it but no discharge. My DH and I have been intimate MAYBE 3 or 4 times in the past 4 months. Ive denied him for the past two because I didnt get my "period" per say and Paperwork said to stop pills if missed period. But I read that some women do not get thier periods for weeks, to months, to years after giving birth. Am I worrying over nothing? Should I take a preg test? I was soooo careful I didnt want another baby right away thats why I denied him so much, those few times were out of pity...(i hate to say that) the paperwork also said that if the pills are taken correctly should be 99% effective. *sighs* I dont know what to do....if i am preg I by all means wont abort it or give up for adoption but is it selfish of me not to want another one right now? I am enjoying all the new things my little girl is doing and Im scared Ill miss it all when Im pregnant and then taking care of a newborn. *sigh*

My 2 year old loves the Monki See Monki Doo DVD's. There are currently 3 DVD's available. The first one teaches body parts and first words, the second one teaches colors and their newest is all about shapes. We have the first two and whenever they come on my baby stops what she is doing to watch them. They have nice music and lots of cute little poems in there. They are really educational but a lot of fun. I can't believe how fast my baby was picking up stuff from watching them. She loves to sing the Monki See Monki Doo song.

I thought anyone that wants to find a good video series would enjoy these as well. We love them!

You can check out the website and even watch a sample of each video on their website.
