What with the Christmas and Hanukkah holidays, we've decided to give our hardworking bloggers a much-deserved vacation. This week, we're reaching into the archives and featuring our favorite posts of the past five months. Enjoy!
Damomma
How could we not adore Damomma's pictoral clutter confessional? There's nothing like a glimpse of another mom's mess. Also irresistable: little Mare's passion for, or rather, addiction to, ballet. But it was when Damomma got serious, contemplating the career she's left behind and the meaning of motherhood, that she really got us, lodging a lump in our throats: "Do You Plan to Go Back?" — Thoughts on My Former Professional Life
Daring Young Mom
There's no getting around it: DYM has a way with Disney — her self-professed complicity in the proliferation of princesses is delicious — as are the nine lessons learned from the (legless) Little Mermaid. On a very different note, on the anniversary of 9/11 DYM beautifully put into words the fears and fragile hopes of many a parent. Nevertheless, it's her hilarious squished-finger post that we come back to time and time again. A classic: 911 — If You Dial It, They Will Come
Daddy Daze
What is it about William that makes for such great posts? Whether he's smuggling sand into the house via his butt or devouring a slimy "floor d'oeuvre" that he found god-knows-where, you gotta love this kid. But in our hands-down-most-favorite Daddy Daze post, it's not the screaming, cocoa-spilling Wiliam who's the star; it's his father, offering up the finest in holiday satires (with just a pinch of sentiment to keep things sweet): We Ride the Polar Express and It Stinks
DahGurl
We liked it when DahGurl got down and dirty, exposing the underbelly of life as a homeschooling mom of five. After all, something's gotta give, right? And speaking of bellies, her decision to publicize her pouch — with photographic proof! — was equally liberating. Still, we can't deny the pleasure it brought us when she did what few moms dare — admit to her own hotness. Check out: Hot Mama Cold Pizza.
Booby Juice
Truly, Booby Juice is fearless when it comes to airing the very physical details of raising an infant and a toddler. Whether she's reporting on those unsightly post-pregnancy X 2 pounds or on Lucas's curiosity about vayjay-jays and doodles, she gets us laughing and nodding in recognition. What we found most fun (and funny) of all was her list of personal bloopers: A Day in the Life of a Domestically Challenged Mom
