Proof That I Am the Best Mom Ever

By Daring Young Mom on Friday, April 13, 6:00 am EDT

I agreed that it was warm enough outside to go swimming on the back deck. I only had to spike the inflatable pool with six or seven pitchers of scalding water to make the experience bearable.

Warming up

Today I found Magoo dipping his jellybeans in the toilet before eating them.

I sanitized him, refilled his hand with fresh beans, and I even plan on kissing him again someday.

At least one meal this week, I convinced them to eat Not-Dino-Chicken-Nuggets.

When Magoo held up a picture or a story or a piece of dirt for the one hundredth time today and yelled, "Oh. MOM. WOOK!!!!" I wooked.

I bought new shoes for both kids at the same time, even though I had strictly forbidden them from outgrowing their shoes simultaneously. I'm considering inventing a convertible sport-sandal/running shoe/dress shoe/rain boot to help moms save a few thousand pennies. If my evil genius really kicks into high gear in the lab tonight, I may even make them stretchable up to three sizes because I believe that shoes should fit children for at least 11 minutes from date of purchase.

Every morning I turn this:

Every single morning

Into this:

Thank you Tangle Spray

I frequently let Magoo walk down the stairs all by himself at the speed of a mollusk.

After Easter dinner, Laylee whispered to me that she loves Jesus, me, corn, and the Easter Bunny the best because we're all true.

I have convinced my 2-year-old son that the keys to happiness in life are shoes, Chapstick, and rich creamy milk "chock-ick."

I helped make these...from SCRATCH!

Hilarious, thoughtful and touching as always. I'll have to get me some of that tangle spray since I finally have a daughter. Her hair is currently growing at the speed of a mollusk (love that line) so it may be a while before I truly need it, but it's good to be prepared.

The hair pictures truly hit home for me. Ug, what a chore.

Quite the accomplishments! Thanks for the tangle spray tip. I've got a boy but his hair is just a rat's nest in the AM. The spray should really help us.

Filling up that pool with nice warm water... you DO sound like the best mom ever. How sweet! And I thought I was the best mom ever because I remember to get Baby Dear up and dressed into clean clothes daily.

What more do you need in life than Jesus, Mommy, corn, and the Easter Bunny! (maybe some "chock-ick") Thank you for the great post! It makes me want to strive to be the best Mommy I can be!

I put a band-aid on the bottom of Engineer's foot and wrapped tape all around it, so it would stay on because when he got hurt he said he needed bandaids all around him. How's that for runner up?

You wooked. That was so cute. I was laughing out loud at this one. Very sweet, funny, and touching all at the same time. You did it again, DYM!

I have two boxes of dino-nuggets in my freezer...and corndogs. DYM, I'd love to save a few thousand pennies! Please sign me up for two pairs of "convertible" shoes. In boy style: camo-chameleon. You are so funny. Makes me want to try to be funny too, which makes me happy. Though you are the funniest.

You win! You are the best--give yourself a pat on the back. =)

I could match you on the wooking and the waiting for the mollusk, but the detangling? I don't even do that on my own hair. :)

Awesome post. Darn funny. Read it out loud to my wife in the couch and we're still sitting here laughing.

That wasn't just funny, it was insightful and thought-provoking. Wow. Just wow. I'm definitely a runner-up. But that's nothing to sneeze at, you know?

OH, I love this post! And I can't believe you got suckered into filling up the pool with hot water... in April?! How desperate are we for summer around here?!

I initially read, "I sanitized THEM" and thought you'd rinsed off the jelly beans. Yes, these all qualify you for Mother of the Year. But what made me gasp with awe and admiration was the before and after of Laylee's do! Could you come over and style my hair? I want to be a Breck girl, too!

Wow, you really ARE the best mom ever! A baby pool turned hot tub? Seriously! My 2 year old is also at the "wook!" stage. It cracks me up. She also wakes up with that same rat's nest in her hair. Twinners!

Are you really saying that you actually called a child Magoo? Can you imagine what that child will go through with that name? Haven't you ever read anything on name association? What were you thinking

Magoo is not his real name. My children's names are changed for their privacy. Thanks for your concern Myra.

I would love to know how you get your daughter's hair fixed, mine looks the same. Bought detangling spray and doesnt' do it, leaves it feeling slick and oily. What brand are you using?

I use Johnson and Johnson’s Buddies No More Tangles Easy Comb Spray. It comes in a pink squirt bottle. I hope it works for you. We love it.
