Forget Disneyland!

By Daring Young Mom on Friday, April 25, 6:00 am EDT

When my kids win the Super Bowl, they're going to the bathroom. They love spending time in the bathroom. To Laylee and Magoo, the bathroom is the happiest place on earth.

It's a place to play with water guns inside. It's a place to see mommy in her natural state. It's a place to lock the door and create a flood when no one is looking…all in the name of hygiene. It's a place to turn off the lights and shine a flashlight around. It's a place to take pictures of your giant Miffy in privacy. It's a place where soft fluffy paper flows free. And of course the bathroom is a place you must never EVER let your mommy visit unattended. EVER.

The other day I noticed that Laylee had been off the radar for WAY too long. When I called out to her, I could hear her muffled reply from the main floor bathroom, "Just a minute."

I politely informed her that I was coming in and opened the door to find her hard at work creating these.

Hand soap nuptials

Why are your soap bottles covered in tissue paper, you might be asking yourself. Good question. Well Laylee looked up at me with pride. "Mom look! I dressed them up like Ariel and Eric at their wedding! They're getting married!"

Of COURSE! Of COURSE!

So what do your kids do in the bathroom?

I can't believe you didn't guess that they were Areil and Eric!! The cheapest toys really are usually the best toys, especially when you have an imagination like Laylee!

Toilet paper fun

what is it with toilet paper and kids? My two cannot stay away from it. If i leave it up to my seven year old, it takes 12 squares to do the job. Having said that, I remember making toilet paper wedding veils of my own. When I was a kid. Of course.

I don't know what it is...there seems to be some kind of fascination with it. Maybe because it is soft and white. My 4 year old loves it. I dont mind cleaning the mess up either...lol..i guess like mother like daughter

Why, construct entire Lego
4/26/2008 at 12:48 am
Why, construct entire Lego universes all over the floor, surrounding them with Star Wars Attacktix guys posted on every other flat surface in the room, of course! What better place could you possibly dream of for Lego battles?? Why would you waste ANY floor space in the house that could be covered with toys? Of course the bathroom is also the perfect place to practice helpfulness! Since you already know that mom sometimes uses {*old, designated for cleaning*} toothbrushes to clean dirty things, you can really go to town with the six toothbrushes that are RIGHT THERE, ready to be used! And you can sing! Now, everyone thinks that it's the acoustics in the shower that are the best, but, apparently, it's actually the precise angles of wall and ceiling over the TOILET that really enable the amateur to belt songs out with confidence. Laylee's wedding scene makes me giggle, too =).

My dear children wash the bathroom. They use the sweet-smelling soap, and water of course, to wash the sink, the counter, the cabinets, the mirror, the wall, the light switch, the, well, you get the idea. Of course things are cleaner if you just leave the soap and water right there. It's shinier that way I suppose. Amazing to me is that my kids do not go ga-ga over the toilet paper. Maybe I did too good a job of keeping the roll out of toddler hands. My middle son did try flushing the entire new roll one time. The bathroom is also the best dark spot in our house. The place to take all the glow-in-the-dark toys to test that claim. The place to take anything light up to play with it. I've often thought these cookie-cutter house builders might be a little more family friendly by building nice big bathrooms.

Love it! What do my kids do

Love it! What do my kids do in the bathroom? The oldest loves to SING at the top of her lungs because apparently other's can't hear you when you're in the bathroom? Then for the younger two, its the typical "clean all your toys and dinosaurs in the sink and get as much water as possible everywhere else." But hey, at least the dino's are clean, right?

awww super cute!! :)

ha ha CUTE! I can't wait for my little one to do tat someday (although she is 8 months now, I can wait ha ha lol). I was thinking what I used to do in the bathroom as a kid.. ooh at 14 years old I would spend time in there looking at my hair talking to myself the right things to say to my crush lol...

Washed more than just hands...

Well, my kids are old enough that they actually go to the bathroom when they're there. And The Girl has OCD about washing her hands all the time. I've got to invest in soap. But way back when, The Girl washed her hair in the toilet when she was 3 years old. She and her friend both thought it would be a brilliant idea. We laughed and laughed when we saw their wet heads, after "eew"ing and telling them not to do it again of course.

Bathroom antics

With 4 kids, there is always someone in the bathroom. We have two giant mirrors in the corner over the garden tub. The like to set about 3 cm from the mirrors & talk to their "cousins" in the mirrors. They also like to "wash" things. Mainly that involves all the wash rags they can find & a sink full of water. Then I get to spend 20 minutes cleaing up what they've washed (items include most of their happy meal toys, clothing, the mirrors, cheetos, bananas, granola bars, sippy cups....). I can't believe BabyGirl hasn't used TP for wedding attire yet. She could learn a thing or two from Laylee. She does use wash rags as veils & makes the rubber duck marry the rubber frog. I'd hate to know where they're all going on their honeymoon.

This is such a cute story.

This is such a cute story. My kids like to unroll all the toiletpaper and drag it throughout the house. Oh my!
