"Wake Me Up [and just] Go, Go"

By Rachel Rabkin Pechman on Wednesday, June 27, 6:00 am EDT

It's getting close to ovulation time, which means that we need to get this party started.

The problem: My husband has his annual work conference this week, which involves entertaining clients late into the night — for multiple nights in a row — well past my bedtime (and our window for sex). Plus, both of us need to get up early this week, so sex in the morning isn't an option either.

The solution: I told my husband last night that no matter what time he got home, he should wake me up and just do it. No questions asked. It was for the greater good.

So that's what he did. There was no time for pleasantries when he got in around 3am and tiptoed into the dark bedroom. And actually, I'm not even sure I fully woke up. Romantic it wasn't, but we got the job done. Yay us.

should i change my diet to increase my chances of conceiving
5/10/2008 at 8:43 pm
i am 20 years old, my husband and i have been married for almost a year. We have recently been talking about getting pregnant. i stopped taking birth control the second week in April. We want to wait until i have been off birth control for a few months before trying to get pregnant so i want to know what kind of changes i should make to my diet. I have gained about 15 pounds in the last year so i am looking to lose that and also start a healthy diet that will help me have a more healthy pregnancy and lose the baby weight faster after the baby is born. should i cut back on sugar or processed foods? i know i need to consume more fruits veggies and lean protein does ne one have more suggestions? thanks! :-)

Trying still for #2 baby
9/27/2008 at 4:22 pm
We are trying to have another baby but I am 40 years old so there's half a chance for me to conceive unless we try IUI or IVF. My ovulation test results showed two purple lines on the 22nd. We had sex two days before the positive result, the same day and the next day. I feel a little yucky today (5 days later). Maybe because I drank a cup of coffee at lunch today which was supposed to have been decaf. Does anyone have any stories to tell if you thought you might be pregnant and then really were as far as signs of nausea and how early on you experienced it? Thanks!!

I was just like you! Age

I was just like you! Age 42, used the ovulation test strips and got prego on the same day it said I was ovulating! I took home pregency tests a week later, it came up negative. I took about 20 test that month, all negative, but I just knew I was prego. Finally, the day I was suspose to have my period (not late yet) I took another test and it was positive! I have a beautiful, very healthy 11 month old baby girl! So keep trying and don't give up hope and don't beleive the home test if it says negative, it may just be too soon yet. Those ovulation test strips really work!!!! Good luck.

Home ovulation test strips really work
5/11/2009 at 5:52 pm
Hi! Don't give up! Buy the home ovulation test strips and try those. They told me the exact day I was ovulating and I got prego right away (after doing "it" on that day!). I used the calendar method before that but my count was off. Also, I know it sounds silly, but afterwards put your legs up in the air. I did that too on the day I conceived, after trying for almost a year too!

Does anyone know if I can get pregnant?
5/11/2009 at 5:41 pm
I have an 11 month old daughter. I breastfeed. I have not had my period since giving birth. I am 43! Do you think it's safe to have unprotected sex since I haven't started my period yet? This was a bonus baby as is....at my age I don't think I can get prego so easy. I don't want to go back on bc because of my age and I hate rubbers! What do you think?

9/11/2009 at 8:37 am
I just had my iud taken out sept. 9th and was planning on being fertile the next few days because my day 1 of my last period was on Aug. 31st. Well today I started my period again. Which day do I use as my Day 1 of my menstrual cycle?
