Gallop: A Scanimation Picture Book, by Rufus Butler Seder

At first glance, this looks like a regular old picture book—but the second you open it up, you’ll be mesmerized. Thanks to a brand-new technique called “scanimation,” the images on each page seem to move, as though you were watching a film instead of simply reading. Horses gallop, eagles soar—and young readers’ jaws drop! It’s the coolest book we’ve seen in a while. Ages 4 to 8.

Price: $13
Manufacturer: Workman
Available at: amazon.com and bookstores nationwide

I found this book at our local BJ's and bought it for myself as a Christmas gift, I love it. My favorite is the monkey swinging on the vine and the star on the last page. It really is an amazing book to look at. Everyone at our holiday parties agrees. Great choice!

We just saw this at Pottery Barn Kids and my two year old twins loved it. Now I have to go back and buy it. Amazing how animals move.

A co-worker of mine received this book as a gift for her son. When she opened the book we were so amazed at this book that I had to have it for my grandson. This is an amazing book and I'm sure will be a hit for ALL ages. GREAT JOB Rufus! I look forward in seeing more scanimation picture books in the near future.

I am so glad to know about Gallop! I will gallop all the way to the bookstore today. I just bought Princess Bubble for my granddaughter and am excited to have another wonderful idea for the boys.
