The only things I never run short on at my house are to-do’s, from picking up the dry cleaning to dropping a kid off at soccer or dance. If, like me, your life is a crazy carousel of errands and appointments (and really, what mom’s life isn’t?), you’re going to love this Happeez whiteboard from Mayfair Lane.

Oh, I know, you’ve seen dry-erase boards before — so have I. But usually, behind every great board is a not-so-great backing: they generally either have magnets (which won’t work on stainless-steel fridges and non-metal surfaces) or they’ve got an adhesive that leaves gummy goo behind once the board is removed. I don’t know what kind of magic Flubber is used on the Happeez board, but it sticks just about anywhere, and comes off without a trace. I’ve been using mine to write down our family’s schedule each day for our babysitter...and who knows, if my kids slack off on their chores, I may make them a list and stick it right on their bathroom mirror, hee hee! ($18, available at mayfairlane.com and retailers nationwide and in Canada)

Tees with earnest messages on adults? Sometimes annoying.

Tees with earnest messages on my toddler? Heart-clinchingly adorable!

Started by Kat Henderson (a mom), When I Grow Up creates children's wear that emphasizes the important, simple, lifelong values we can start teaching our kids today.

From the top-left: Charity (a portion of these sales go to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network), Health, Compassion, and Earth. Sizes range from 2T to 8, they're 100% cotton and printed with water-based ink.

With all the high heels, half-shirts, and "I Love Boobies!" onesies on the market, these are a breath of fresh air!

As a second-time parent shopping for baby clothes, I recognize the utter stupidity of paying a lot for your layette. First of all, your kid will fit any particular outfit for about a millisecond. And second – it doesn’t matter if it’s cashmere – your baby will poop, pee and puke over it all. And yet I still want modern, cool-looking clothes for this little guy.

That’s why I was so excited to hear that the DwellStudio for Target nursery bedding and furniture line had expanded into baby clothing. Check out the cute selection, all informed by Dwell’s signature playful but sleek design aesthetic. I especially adore the kimono-style onesies and the striped PJs. And here’s what I really love: all pieces are $12.99 and under.

My wanna-be crafty self made a sock monkey for a friend’s new baby recently. And I thought I was very clever, using a cute green striped sock instead of the traditional brown and red sock-monkey sock. (Btw, I found the pattern here.)

I had a really good time making it, but I’ll be honest: Since I’m no genius with a needle and thread (though I proudly own a sewing machine in my little NYC apartment), it took me, oh, an entire three-day weekend to gather the materials and make the thing. That’s why I love these Monkeez from Colonial Candle (someone else made them!):

I mean, could they be cuter? Granted, they don’t have the lopsided-head effect of my homemade monkey, but adding the hat would have put me over the edge.
