I have a similar story: Ever since I was in my early 20s, I have loved the name LEXI and have sworn and informed family and friends that someday it was going to be the name of my future baby girl. Few years later, one of my best friends used it, not as a formal name, but as a nickname for their baby girl. I was very sad and dissappointed but also happy in a way coz they thought of me when they started using it. Fast forward to now (8 years later), my 1.5yo little cupcake has a beautiful and very unique name that matches her and her little personality. I still like the name LEXI but i love my daughter's name. And i love that i can take the full credit whenever people make a comment on how unique and pretty her name is. By the way, a simple "We (or I) haven't decided" should be answer enough to those curious minds when you want to keep you baby's name private.
