Permission
11/17/2008 at 11:00 pm
When my younger two were little, they couldn't keep themselves out of my big flour bin downstairs. I was always finding flour messes throughout the basement and getting frustrated with them. I put a lot of energy into telling them "no", and it never worked. So finally one day, I put a sheet on the washroom floor, put the bin on the sheet, took the lid off, and said "Have fun" which they did. They dug in up to their armpits, smeared flour all over themselves, tasted it, and experienced it fully. We cleaned up after awhile, and I never again had either one of them get into that flour! Permission is powerful stuff. :)
