I've read in a few places that this year's batch of flu vaccine was one of the worst we've had. Every year scientists try and guess which particular strains of flu are going to infect the population, and make the vaccine based on their guesses. This year apparently their guessing was waaaay off and most of the strains that are circulating are ones that weren't included in the vaccine. So don't worry, your memory is not off--you did get a flu vaccine. It was just a mostly-ineffective one.
