i think it is at least as important that the mommy be ready as the child when embarking on potty training. i feel like one of the prerequisites be that i am willing to spend three days staying at home and getting absolutely nothing done except for potty training. everything else gets interrupted in those first couple of days. and you spend a lot of time cleaning up messes, as you mentioned! good luck getting yourself geared up for it!
