Never Ready
2/22/2008 at 7:23 am
You never feel prepared--especially toward the end! At first I was waiting and waiting for the third trimester and then when I finally got about two weeks into it, I panicked. So much had to be done. I read everything I could get my hands on, figured out how all of the baby gadgets worked, committed owners manuals to memory. Everything! My doctor had originally pushed my due date back a week, but I was CERTAIN he was wrong. I was sure the baby would be early and I would be caught off guard. The week of my original due date I was NEARLY prepared...I just needed one more week. By that week I was still not ready...maybe I needed more baby clothes, were my PJs right for a birth? Oh no! I don't have a 'special' outfit to take the baby home in! The obsessing was endless and it just got worse. There was no calm before the storm. Never once did I think I was 'prpeared'. My daughter was 8 days later than my Dr. predicted and I still forgot to bring flip flops for he hospital shower!
