About to give up on naps!!

You may have read my other posts about my 10 mo. son who will not nap. It's been going on 4+ weeks of letting him cry it out and still no luck. Maybe 1 day out of the week he'll fall asleep for 20 min. I'm just not sure this is working. I do our same routine every day... dim lights, read same book, sing a lullaby and put him in his crib, only for him to cry for an hour. When I go in and get him after that he smiles immediately and acts like he just napped?! The crying doesnt bother me anymore, I just want what's right for him, and that's a nap. Help!

Also, why do you think it was so easy for him to learn to cry it out at night (only took 2 nights and now never has a night sleeping issue) but so hard to learn it during the day?

Wow! That's one tough kid. I'm SO sorry for you. I don't think I'd give up because he really does need the sleep. Has your pediatrician mentioned anything? My daughter does best with white noise...don't know if that would make a major difference for your son, though. I don't suppose Harvey Karp or Dr. Weissbluth happen to be your neighbors... ;) I'll do some digging and see what I can find. Hang tough!

Is it dark enough in his bedroom during the day at nap time? I'm just wondering cause you said he didn't seem to have a problem at night time.

It's as dark as it can get in his room. I hate to jinx myself, but as I type this he fell asleep after only 15 min of crying and is currently sleeping for 45 min!!!! Definitely not going to give up!
