I just have a question about getting your baby to sleep all night while breastfeeding. Is it doable without drying up? I would think that if you went 8-10 hours without breastfeeding, your supply would go down. Not that I think Roo is gonna sleep all night any time soon. I'm just wondering cuz if she does start sleeping thru the night... I'd like to know what to do. She's already pulling 6 hour stretches.

Technically, SSTN is 5 hours...so she is ;). Yes, if you don't bf all night long, you will not produce milk in that time frame. If you have a low supply, night-weaning could cause you to lose your total supply.

It is a good question, and I do not know but I think that also if it is going to be a regular basis that she is sleeping through the night it is also possible that your body will adjust to this new schedule. It is supply and demand. If there is still demand in the day time then it seems it could work. My MW keeps telling me that the body is good at adjusting and figuring these things out.

Yep, that sounds right to me, your body will adjust, and when the baby starts to demand more during the day to make up for missed feedings at night, then it should all work out.
I always like to think that babies have been being born for thousands of years, and formula has only been around, what, less then 100 years? So breastfeeding was the only way for a long, long time, and so our bodies can adjust as needed!

No you won't dry up, your body is amazing, and your body will just slow making milk at night and make up for it during the day.
