Share your story. Here's mine.

From the beginning...I was 5'3" and 115lbs when I found out I was pregnant. I was 190 lbs when Roman was born.
I was due on Sept. 9 of last year.
On August 26, I had a sudden gush of fluid. We went to the hospital, they checked me, said I was 3cm dilated (which I had been for the whole last month anyway) and that my water might be leaking, but the bag hadn't broken. They said I was having contractions a few minutes apart, but since I wasn't in any pain they said it "didn't count" and sent me home.
My husband and I walked and walked and walked and walked that day. Miles and miles through a local park. We went home and had sex. I did jumping jacks. Nothing happened.
On August 28th, my stepmom told me to eat greasy pizza, so that's what we had for dinner.
Around 2am I woke up with cramps. They continued to wake me up frequently through the night. I was SO mad, because I just wanted to sleep. Finally at about 7am, I realized something was wrong, because they were BAD, and really often. Then I had to go to the bathroom. And then I had to go to the bathroom again. So I woke up my husband and said "Babe, my stomach hurts."
(This was on Friday morning, of labor day weekend, so he had the day off)
He said "Okay, just roll over."
I said, "No, Shawn, I'm serious. My stomach HURTS!"
He said, "I know, I heard you. Just go back to sleep, you'll be okay."
So I got up and called my mom and told her about the pain. She was like "They're contractions, NOT cramps!" So I gave the phone to my husband (just what every man wants to hear at 7:30 am on their day off, the mother in law!) She had him time my contractions and how far apart they were.
Three minutes apart, one minute long.
So my mom told me to get my butt to the hospital.
Me: "Okay, as soon as I shower."
Mom: "No. Now."
Me: "I have to do the dishes first."
Mom: "NO. Go NOW!"
Me: "But-"
Mom: "DAMN IT, GO NOW!"
Haha, so we went. By the time we got to the hospital, I was convinced I was going to die. I kept telling my husband, "I don't want to do this anymore. I changed my mind. He can stay inside me!"
I get to the desk and the nurse says "Can I help you?"
I'm bent over at this point, I couldn't stand up it hurt so bad. I say "I'm in labor."
She says, "How do you know?"
I restrained myself from leaping over the counter and choking her to death, and instead said, "Because it HURTS!"
So they took me to a triage room, where I had to go to the bathroom two more times, and then they checked me. Seven cm dilated, contractions two mins apart.
About 45 god awful minutes later, the epidural guy FINALLY came in. At this point I was 8cm, almost 9cm dilated.
After the epidural I was okay, but it took a few hours for me to get from 9 to 10 cm. Somewhere in there my water broke all the way.
Finally at 2:20pm (I had been in the hospital since 8:30am) they had me start pushing. This lasted forEVER!
Somewhere around 5:15pm my mom started jumping up and down and crying saying "I can see him, I can see him! PUSH, Heather, PUSH!!!"
I said "What the hell do you think I've been doing?!?!?!"
This is when the dr showed up and whipped out her scissors. Snip snip snip and I thought my husband was going to vomit. He has a strong stomach, he's an Army medic, but something about seeing his wife's vagina get cut open with a pair of scissors didn't sit well with him.
At this point, Roman had been rocking against my pelvic bone for almost an hour.
Finally I felt him drop past him and said "oh god I'm pushing now!"
Next thing I know, I feel him hanging out of me.
The dr says "I've got his head, now just stop pushing and breathe for a second."
I said "F*CK BREATHING, GET HIM OUT!!" and pushed and there he was.
It was 5:37pm, on Friday August 29th. He was 7lbs, 8oz, 20 in long.
Ten days early.

So. How did it all go for everyone else?

Holy sh!t, you must REALLY be bored!!! Hahaha...Let's see how long it takes me to type this.... it is 2:22pm.
__________________________________________________ ______________
Beginning I was 180 and 5'8. I have no idea how much I weighed when I had her, but I had gained 40plus lbs. My due date was first Nov. 18, 2008. Two weeks later, they changed it to Nov. 26, 2008. My hubby and I had a bet going who could guess the actual date...his guess was Oct. 31, 2008, my guess was Nov. 12, 2008. So....
I started my 2 week training in the Emergency Room on Nov. 3, 2008. Let me tell you, those people DID NOT take it easy on me for being 9mos. pregnant! lol. On Sunday, Nov. 9, 2008, I started having cramping. I told my hubby to time them...after an hour he stopped and told me they were not real contractions. They lasted all day. When I went to bed, they stopped. I had a routine OBGYN appt the next day. My midwife checked me and I was 3cm. That evening, the cramps came back. I went to sleep, they went away. It was now Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2008. I was having cramping a little stronger all day. I tried timing them myself, they were not regular AT ALL. I was laying on the couch watching T.V. around 6pm. I had to get ready to go with my hubby to his Improv class. I got up and thought I had peed on myself. GROSS! I showered and went to the class. The entire time, the cramps grew stronger and stronger...still not regular, though. We got home and I just wanted to go to sleep to make the cramps go away. My hubby was talking to his sister and she was telling me to walk. I didn't want to walk, I wanted to sleep. My hubby started timing them. They were closer and closer together. It is 11pm and he calls the call center for the midwife. They say to go to the hospital and get checked. We grab our bags and head to the hospital thinking they will just send us back home. We get there and up to the room around midnight. The nurse checks me and I am 4cm. She says the midwife wants me to walk for an hour. We head upstairs to the nursery to look at the babies and walk around. After 20 mins. of shuffling around in between intense contractions, I tell my hubby I am going back to the room. He says, only 20 more mins...come on let's walk! I AM GOING BACK TO THE ROOM!!!! Ok, he says. I am soooo nauseated at this point. The nurse starts my IV bag and leaves the room. I begin to throw up my spagetti dinner....YUCK!! She comes back in and gives me some Reglan. She checks me and I am 7cm. I ask for some pain meds to hold me over until the epidural. She says no and the Anesthesiologist walks in 2 mins. later. AAAHHHHHH.....HEAVEN!!! I try to call my mom and sis in between them checking and fixing monitors and things. I get checked again and she says I am almost at 10cm. My midwife gets there and it's time to start pushing at 3:01am. Three contractions later and I am holding my baby girl at 3:13am. She was born on Nov. 12, 2008 at 3:13am. (My prediction for those that forgot!! lol) 7lbs. 3oz. and 21inches. 2 weeks early. WHEW!!! It is 2:45pm lol...not too bad!

oh my gosh Heather!! thats quite the birth story!!!
mine is kinda boring but heres mine!

it was march 13th at 11pm we had my MIL, BIL, and one of his friends over watching a movie. (according to the ultrasound Caleb wasnt due till march 24th and the Dr said no your gonna go unitl April 5th!) so anyway sitting there minding my own business eating my whole bag of popcorn (and yes all by myself) when i had to go pee, got up went pee sat back down and 2sec later had to go again! and every time i went pee i had to change my pantie liner, so after about 5 trips to the bathroom within 4min my MIL asked if everything was ok. i told her i dont know? so i grabbed the phone called my mom. she told me my water was leaking and to call the Dr! then i had to call her back to let her know what was going on since she is almost 2hrs away from the hospital.
I called the Dr, felt bad cause i woke him up but he told me to go in and get checked. so i got everything ready pushed people out of my house before the movie ended and we were on our way to the hospital.
we get to the hospital and it was after midnight now and the hospital was DEAD the only 2 people around were the receptionist and an old guy that pushed me to the maternity ward. but i sat down at the front desk not feeling anything but wet telling her all my info then the old guy came back with a wheel chair and wheeled me upstairs (well we took the elevator) and i got settled into my room.
I was the only one on the whole floor besides the nurses! no screaming babies no soon to be mommys walking the halls NOTHING. so it was pretty quite.
got in my room changed and the nurse came in to check me and i was 3cm dilated and since i was in no pain she had to check for amniotic fluid so she stuck this q-tip thingy in me and only half of it turned blue. so she put a pad under my butt and checked it later and it turned all blue. YAY. so all night i walked up and down the hall trying to get the show on the road.
now its 7am on March 14th, my dr just came in to see me, he checked me and i was at 6cm. so he told me to rest as much as i could and he will be back at noon.
i tried to sleep but that wasnt gonna happen, stupid arm cuff going off every 10 minutes or so and some stupid people thought it was a good idea to come on the maternity ward floor to fix the elevator! so i wasnt getting any sleep!
my Dr came in a little after noon and i was still at 6cm! AHHHH! so he said he wanted to start the pitocin. by the time we were done talking, the dr gave the orders, and the nurses came in to put it in my IV it was 12:30.
at 12:45 it kicked in, and it HURT (just to remind you i didnt feel anything the whole time until then) i couldnt do anything my mom was sitting right there and asked if i wanted some drugs. i couldnt even talk. well my mom called in the nurse and she had me lay back and she checked me and with in 10min i was already 9cm so i didnt have time for anything.
the Dr came in and he checked me and i was at 10! YAY!! time to push. so they got everything ready tore down the bed and heard someone ask the time, and someone said "1" so this all happened in 15min. and i pushed a couple of times and he told me to stop, he took out the dreaded needle numbed me and then he cut me! my poor hubby turned his head i thought for sure he was gonna pass out! then he was done and told me to push again and Caleb's head was out, then his whole body followed and at 1:14pm Caleb James was born! March 14th 7lbs 4oz 21inches long!!

Oh, I have to share.... :p Though I love the part about your husband freaking at the episiodomy :p

I'm 5'7" and was 230 pounds when I delivered (I didn't look it though :p )

I was scheduled to be induced on December 16th. Which was nice, I thought, because it gave me concrete plans for work (I was not going on leave until I went into labor). Earlier that week... I started getting contractions on and off, so Tuesday I went into work and started having contractions for about an hour, I told my supervisor and she freaked, and had me go home.
I never asked her, but I'm assuming she's never had children. I had Wednesday off, and Thursday I started having contractions again in the morning, but they weren't at a regular interval and stopped just before I went into work, so when I got in, I let my supervisor know I had been having contractions... just in case I went into real labor... it was a heads up sort of thing.
She freaked again got the manager and they sent me home. Friday she called me and said "Don't come in, we got you the day off."
Sure it wasn't paid, but I was in the "Oh well, day off to get ready for the 16th." mode.
Saturday was my day off again, and I woke up at about 6am. Our back door sometimes won't latch so we have a hook and eye latch to keep it from blowing open. After I had brought the dogs in the night before, I must have forgotten to latch it because I woke up because I smelled fresh air and the heat was running like mad. The door had blown open (it was only around 49 degrees that day so it wasn't FREEZING, but cold enough). I got up to pee (for the millionth time) and noticed the door was open and my husband's dog was whining. My dog was no where in sight.
I yelled for him a couple times, but he didn't come so I knew he had gotten out and jumped the fence. This is the 13th...

I woke my husband, got dressed, and we went out to look for him. We thought we saw him down the street a bit, but by the time we got there, he was not to be found. So I said "Let's go back home. I can't take this today and hopefully he'll come home." (he did) My husband looked at me and said "Are you in labor?" I said no. (I was wrong)

So the day goes on, and my husband decides to take a nap at 4pm, but I haven't been able to sleep at all with being that preggo so I stayed up playing a computer game. That's when I noticed I was having contractions again. I started timing, they were coming about 7 minutes apart on the dot for an hour, so I went and woke up my husband.
He said "I'm not going to get to take a nap, am I?" if he wasn't across the bed and I wasn't 9 months pregnant, I'd have jumped on him and smacked him.
I told him to go back to sleep, they were too far apart to go to the hospital and who knows, I'd had a few false alarms. But of course he couldn't sleep.

I hadn't eaten since lunch and was now too afraid to. The contractions kept getting stronger, we tried to watch TV to take our minds off of it, but we were watching Pulp Fiction... they got to the scene where Travolta and Uma Thurman were eating hamburgers in the 50's diner and I got pissed because I was hungry and now wanted a hamburger.
So I took a shower, washed some clothes, screamed at contractions, paced the living room, finally when they were about 6 minutes, almost 5 minutes apart we called the doctor and she sent us to the hospital.

I get to the hospital, they stick me in triage and check my dilation, I was at 3cm. They leave me and my husband in the room watching TV, something stupid (we can't remember what though) and I laughed at it and my water broke. I called the nurse and said "Either my water just broke or I peed from laughing." My water had broke.

The nurse comes in and checks me (I was ready to kill the next person who shoved their finger up me at that point) I hadn't dilated and she thought she felt a membrane still. So she brings in someone else to check, they agree there was still a membrane so they inform me I had a foresac and that broke because I had a few more contractions but no fluid. then I stopped having contractions. So the nurses start me on pictocin (or whatever) because they dont' feel safe sending me home and move me to my room. At this point I get told my OB wasn't going to be there. I got the on call OB from his practice (but she would have been my other choice if I hadn't taken the one I did).

I get my epidural, it's past 1 am at this point, so I had no waiting....
So they tell me to get sleep, but have a blood pressure cuff that every 10 minutes squeezes the **** out of my arm and alarms go off because my blood pressure dropped every time it did. I slept maybe a half hour.

The next morning I get fingers stuck in me again. Then the doctor comes and accedently breaks my water while checking to see how much I've dilated, and so begins labor!

I handled it pretty well, but when I had to start 'breathing' i kept falling asleep between contractions and scaring the nurse and my husband. I was tired! They check dilation AGAIN, I was 8 cm so they kept yelling "Don't push, Rebecca, just breath through it!"
Finally after resisting not pushing forever, I yelled "I'm pushing, damn it! I can't NOT push!" so they check how much I'm dilated AGAIN, and lo and behold, I was 10 cm. So they said "Okay, push." I was going to anyhow.

My husband says they kept saying something about John Gabriel's blood pressure or heart rate dropping, which I can sort of remember, but when they let me push (I didn't want to breath even though I was supposed to) I pushed as hard as I possibly could and popped him out in 15 minutes. The doctor had the head and did the 'okay, relax a moment' and I told her she better hurry up because I was pushing in 10 seconds whether she was ready or not.

So he was born December 14th at 12:51 pm... My due date was December 20th, my induction December 16th, and I had a feeling he would be born on December 13th. I was close!

Lol..yes, only 13mins.. I am just hoping the next labor is as easy as the last!! Keri-you're a skinny green bean!! lol.. I was 180lbs and a size 12 pre-baby and now I am 185lbs. and size 14. I am on a mission to get down to 150lbs.!! I couldn't imagine being 120lbs at 5'8. I guess we all carry weight differently, though.

Becca - I need you to know that I hate you for not looking terrible after birth. I guess after such a short easy labor though, you ought to not look bad. Jerk. :P

Okay, I hate to do this, but here is me, immediately after Roman was born. Sigh. What a mess.

In fact, I'm going to post a few. Just so you're not all like "Ewww, that is the ugliest girl alive!" Labor just did bad things to me.

#1 - Pre pregnancy (I was only like 20 in this one)
#2 - Pregnant
#3 - Immediately after birth
#4 - 8 months later

No fair.
I was 115 before I was pregnant, 190 when Roman was born, and I'm still 128 ten months later. The extra weight is mostly my butt and boobs, so I'm okay with it, but Ive got that "pouch" under my belly button that I would sell my soul to be rid of.
No chance of this girl wearing a bikini EVER.

LOL! sorry, in the Jamaica pic i was 122 and thats where i was till i got pregnant again but i was stuck in a rut! couldnt get rid of those extra pounds. my hubby tells me not to get rid of it cause i got a butt and some boobs out of the deal but just seeing those numbers on the scale.
after i got the ok from my Dr i did nothing but crunches and i walked like crazy! that got rid of my little pouch.

H.Starr
07-08-2009, 04:15 PM
I do ab exercises daily, and its helped ABOVE my belly button a lot, but nothing BELOW. I think I'm doomed.
I was a small 34C before pregnancy, now I'm a 36D. My husband is NOT complaining about that extra weight! I've always had a big butt, but now its pretty much ghetto-booty status. Which again, he is NOT complaining about.
So the actual poundage doesn't bother me, its just the "pouch." Its definitely smaller than it was, but it won't just GO AWAY ALREADY!

Yay! I like talking about my little guy's birth story!
Before I got pregnant, I was 120lbs, and at the end of my pregnancy, I was 150lbs, but it was alllll baby and boobies!
My due date was January 23rd, but my little guy was 6 days late. I was having false labor on the 27th, just little cramps here and there, so I went to the mall with my mom and walked for about 3 hours. I went to bed that night thinking that it was never going to happen. I woke up at 1:30am and had a pretty intense cramp, thinking "wow, that hurt a lot more this time." So I waited, and timed them, and every 15 mins, I had a contraction. I waited a couple more times, and then they were coming every 7 mins or so, so I rolled over, tapped my husband on the shoulder and said "sweetie, i think this is happening now." So we both got out of bed, and I kept timing. By the time they were 5 mins apart, it was 3am, so off to the hospital we went.
When we got to the hospital, they examined me and I was only 2cm, so they had me walk the halls for 2 hours to see if things would progress. Nothing had changed, so they sent me home :( I was so disappointed. But it was better at home because I could shower, eat and relax in my own bed. By 6pm that evening, I was in a lot of pain. They were about 4 mins apart, but incredibly intense, so we went back in.
They examined me again, and just my luck, still 2cm!! Ahhh!! I told my dr that I did not want to go home again, so he broke my water. I had no idea the pain I would endure once he did that. It was an incredible pain, and beause I was only 2cm, they couldn't give me an epidural yet, so they gave me demerol. The only thing this did was make me sleepy, and ruined my ability to cope with the pain. I begged my husband to get the nurse to give me an epidural. finally i wad 4cm, so they were able to do it. i was in labor for 24 hrs before i had the epidural. i was exhausted!!
it slowed my contractions, so i wasn't ready to push until 930am. after 25 mins of pushing, my beautiful baby boy was finally here!!

I forgot to add in my story... every time the nurses asked if I wanted anything, I told them "A hamburger and a milkshake." (because of watching Pulp Fiction diner scene).
They didn't find that funny.

As soon as I delivered they told me I could order something from the cafeteria, fortunately... they had hamburgers, no milkshake though, but it was a really good hamburger, I'm not saying that just because I hadn't eaten, their food was not typical hospital food!

Oh my gosh!
I was STARVING and DEHYDRATING the whole day. They wouldn't let me eat or drink anything at all, so from the time I went to bed Thursday until 6pm Friday, I had nothing to eat or drink.
As soon as I was stitched and everything was good to go, my husband sent his dad to McDonalds to get me a Big Mac and a chocolate shake! I inhaled them both, so then he went downstairs to get me a 20oz Pepsi, which was gone almost just as fast!

Ok this should be fun…
I was 5’5, 128 pounds when I found out I was pregnant, which by the way, I didn’t find out until I was 11 weeks and had already gained about 5 pounds, but that is another story. I had a pretty difficult pregnancy. They put me on bed rest in mid October. My due date was December 1, 2007. My husband worked 80-90 hours a week, I was depressed and by myself most days. They were concerned with my swelling and my early contractions. I was already dialating before I got to 8 months prego. They thought her stomach wasn’t developing at the rate it was supposed to. Her tummy was at 2% while the rest of her was normal. The doc said this could mean liver problems for baby. So the while I hated the bed rest, it worked. She gained weight in her tummy, and I stopped having cramps, but kept swelling. I could lie on the couch with my feet on the back of it for 5 hours. Then I would stand up in the shower for 20 minutes and it was like I never had them up at all. So anyway, December 1st came and went. NO baby. I walked, had sex, and did whatever I could. No baby. Finally my doctor schedules me to induce December 10th. The night of the 9th I couldn’t sleep a wink because I was so scared and excited! I “woke up” at 4 to be at the hospital by 5. Hubby couldn’t sleep either.
So we get to the hospital and get checked in. The nurse tells me I will have to wait for the pitocin because 2 other women were about to deliver. So we sit and wait, all the while I am hearing the woman across the hall scream her poor head off and saying she couldn’t do it anymore. Not exactly what I wanted to hear at that point. So finally around 8:00 they give me the pitocin and broke my water. I am starving at this point and still can’t sleep, but of course they don’t let me eat. I wanted to have an all natural labor. I wanted to labor at home for as long as possible. I wasn’t very happy about being induced, but then to make it worse, they gave me an IV, blood pressure thingy, broke my water, fetal monitors, everything I didn’t want! How could I possibly walk around with all this stuff?
Well my contractions got worse and by about 10 I was 6cm. No way did I want to walk now! I asked for drugs, but they knew that wasn’t my plan. So they gave me hot IV bags to put on my stomach and I tried to change positions but it didn’t help and just hurt my back. So they gave me a shot of drugs in my IV. She told me she could only do it once, it would only last 30 min to an hour and I would feel drunk. I felt drunk but it didn’t help the pain. By 11 or so I had completely worn off and I was so exhausted! I was nauseous and I couldn’t stop shaking, but I was sweating a lot. So, I asked for an epidural. She told me I had to finish the IV bag of fluid first.
So by noon I had just finished the IV and was in so much pain that I was in and out of it, basically sleeping between my contractions. I begged the nurse to check me because it hurt sooo bad! I was ready! Ok I thought, only 4 hours of labor! Awesome! She told me once I started pushing that we could have a baby in 20 minutes or so. By the way, I forgot about the epidural completely and the nurses didn’t bring it up again. So it’s all natural at this point. I didn’t feel the need to push at all because the baby was so far “up”. So I had to push for 3 hours. The funny thing is she was dropped, in zero station for the past month! And when I go to have her 10 days late, she isn’t ready! Lol. So then we find out she is in the wrong position. Not breach, but she was face up instead of face down. This is why my back hurt so bad! That’s why I couldn’t get comfortable in any other position, because her scull was pressing up against my back. So I had to push her past my pelvic bones and she would start coming and go back every time I stopped pushing. Finally they could see her hair. Oh and my husband had went out of the room a couple of times. I didn’t even notice! I guess even during natural birth your body makes its own drugs. I was delirious. So anyway, I almost lost it when I had to push her head out. For the first time since it started I was crying. I couldn’t do it. I was freaking out. She was still upside down. My doctor had to tell me “Naomi, I need you to push”. And then I just snapped into it again. I didn’t need an episiotomy but I did tear a little. Only needed a few stitches. My family said they could hear me from the hall lol. Kind of embarrassing. So she was 7lbs 15 ounces 20.5 inches. Oh and I weighed 198 when I had her. Yup. Gained 70 pounds. Now Im back down to 132, trying to lose those extra 5 pounds still.

Yeah, I woulda ate my shoes at that point :p

You know, 36 C is not big. I WAS a 36 C, I'm a 38 D now.
Well, I'm not a little girl though. My lowest weight I was around 166 pounds. That was just before I got pregnant. I ate for crap, coffee was my idea of breakfast, I'd get away with a very small lunch and an average dinner. So when I got pregnant, I started eating right... breakfast (had to because of morning sickness) snacks, a bigger lunch, more snacks, big dinner.... I was eating like a horse according to my body, so I gained a bunch of me weight (not baby weight).

oh my goodness. let me first off say that all of you guys looked better than i after labor. i will post pics.

heather, you are for some reason exactly how i pictured you!!!! :)

and my boobs were at a 36D before i got pregnant and they were probably to a 36DD by birth (but i still used a 36D because our stores in canon suck and i was comfortable in my bras) now i am down to a 36D again unless sophie doesnt wake up at night to eat and my boobs are giant. hehe

ok so anyway, here is my story...

i was 5'6 130lbs before prego and 170 the day before i went into labor. my original due date was Dec. 20, 2008. my hubby was out of work on workmans comp cause he hurt his shoulder so we had to go to colorado springs for a doc appointment for him. he had went to his doc at 12, ate at fazolis at 1:30pm, went to a couple stores and i has having stomach cramps that made it hard to walk when they came. i knew i was having contractions but they werent close together or regular, so i didnt say anything. well we got back in the truck and as soon as i sat down they started getting stronger and a little closer together i'd say about 10 mins, but i also thought it was cause i had to pee horribly cause i didnt go before getting in the truck. so i'm like "honey my stomach is killing me," he freaks out and is like "are you in labor?" mind you he has been wanting me to push this baby out for a week and a half now. so i'm like "well i dont think so quite yet, i just have to pee really bad and i think she'll be coming tonight or tomorrow but it doesnt hurt enough to speed to the hospital." so he just keeps driving, and i can see the spedomitor kinda keep rising til he hits like 75mph, (the road is set at like 55 or 65) and i'm like "you wanna slow down speed racer?" and i get the look like 'women stop telling me how to drive'. hehe so we finally make it into penrose and i get reception to call my mom and ask her what i should do and she asked me the normal, how hard and how far apart are the contractions, blah blah blah, so i tell her and she is like oh dont worry about it they are probably just false you arnt due for another week. this really pissed me off cause this woman is like my hubby and has been talking to my stomach and asking when she is going to come out and play. then she talks to my cousin and has her call me and my cousin starts talking about all the stuff that happens before labor and tells me her horrifying stories and i;m like "um ok i think i'll pass on labor." :) well my hubby and i decide that sitting at home is just out of the question cause we cant keep our minds off of having the baby so we go walk around walmart to try and get them the show on the road so we dont go home and have to get up in the middle of the night in the freezing cold and rush to the hospital. so we are walking around walmart for like an hour and half and i;ve already rushed to the bathroom like 6 or 7 times and my contractions are about 5 mins apart so we went home, got our bags and called the hospital and tell them we are coming in. the nurse asks are you sure its not a false alarm, i'm like "how in the hell am i suppose to know, and what does it matter, i'm coming in weither you like it our not." so we get there get signed in and the receptionist asks me if i'm able to walk. i'm like "well i walked in here, but it would be nice to not have to." so she got a wheel chair and my hubby takes me up to the deliver floor. we get there and we are the only ones besides the 2 nurses. it was all dark and it kinda scared me. so i got undressed and change and the nurse checks me and says i am only at 3 cms. but she calls my doc to come in, its about 6:30 pm. he comes in around 8 or 9 and does an ultra sound to check on the baby and everything. he said i didnt have much amniotic fluid and we needed to get the baby out ASAP. so he went home to sleep a while and came back every few hours to check on me. my parents show up at the hospital at 8 and my grandma is soon followed behind them. around midnight i am crying cause the contractions hurt so bad but my doc was holding off on giving me my epidural cause he didnt want it to wear off and i was starving because they wouldnt let me eat and all i had was ice chips since 1:30 that afternoon. i got my epidural at 2 am and the anastisiologist (spelling?) didnt like me cause i kept yelling at him. he told me to stop freaking out, i was like "have you ever had a baby sir, i dont think so, shut the hell up." he left right away. with the epidural i was able to sleep til about 5:30 am. my doc came in and broke my water for good and i was in labor from 6 am til 1:23 pm. Sophia Dalilah came into this world on Dec. 13, 2008 at 1:23 pm. she was 5lbs 13 oz, and 18 1/4 long. then i didnt eat til like 6 that night cause i had so many people coming in and out to see Sophie and when i did get to eat it was gone in 5 mins. hehe.

i am now down to 125 lbs.

pics:
the first is of me at my moms wedding, about 5 months pregnant (not really showing at all), second, of me in labor, i was dying of heat so they gave me a cool washcloth, and 3rd is the night sophie was born, cant find the one of right after, i bet it was in the camera i lost but this is pretty close to how i looked after birth, i wasnt able to get up cause i was at fall risk. i had to have magnesium in my iv to keep me from having a stroke while delivery cause i have preeclampsia. this is why my face is so swollen like a balloon, and the 4th pic is me now.

I have two birth stories, and they are drastically different.

I was 5'4 and 100 lbs when I found out I was pregnant with my daughter. I was actually 7 weeks pregnant but that's where things started going wrong. I wanted a very natural pregnancy and birth. I was very sick during my pregnancy and didn't show at all until nearly 7 months or so, then I gained 48 pounds in the last trimester. My midwife had given me the wrong due date (November 28) when it was actually suppose to be November 7 by mine and my first doc's calculations. Anyway, I had undiagnosed pre-eclampsia, my blood pressure more than doubled, I looked like a swollen balloon, and things just felt wrong. I started having cramps in October, here and there, nothing real big. Then on October 28th I lost my plug and the nurses at the hospital said I should be going into real labor in the next week or so. I was having heavy contractions for pretty much the entire month of November. I kept telling my midwife but she told me it wasn't possible. Finally my sister went to an appointment with me and made my midwife hook me up to a machine to watch my contractions. "Wow, those are some pretty heavy contractions, when did those start?" I could have kicked her. So she decides to wait 2 more weeks to induce. I had only dilated to 1cm during all those contractions, so on December 5th I went in at 7am and started cervadil to help me dilate. December 6th rolls around and I'm on my 3rd dose and still only at 4cm with heavy contractions. At noon, my midwife decides to break my water to help things along, it was black. They proceed to manually dilate me at this point, which is very painful. I started blacking out from the pain of the contractions and procedures but I wasn't allowed to have any medication other than an epidural because of my daughter's low heart rate. I didn't want an epidural until after it was too late. I started pushing at 12:30 ish. My daughter was born at 5:36 pm on December 6th. She was immediately rushed off to surgery, I wasn't even allowed to see her. The room was packed with family and strangers, doctors and nurses. I was rushed into surgery for hemmoraging and no one was telling me what was going on. It was after midnight before I saw my little girl, she had a tube in her chest, iv's in her feet, and her arms were pinned to the bedding. The nurse wouldn't let me touch her. She did great though, she was out 2 weeks later.

Due to the previous birth experience, I had no inclination to try this again. So at 5'4, 132 lbs I found out I was pregnant with my son. I have a different doctor now and she was right on top of things. I started doing hormone testing at 6 weeks and continued for the duration of the first trimester, I had my first ultrasound at 8 weeks. My doc said that my hormones were a little high, something you would expect for twins, but too low to actually be twins and we only found 1 heart beat. So we thought nothing of it. The pregnancy was ten times better than the first one and he was due on July 28th. I went in for a standard exam on July 17th and she noticed that something just wasn't quite right, but we couldn't figure out what was wrong. So she sent me to the hospital for a stress test, where they would administer a very small amount of pitocin to see how the baby was handling the contractions. Nothing extremely abnormal happened so she released me and had me come back in for observation in the office the morning of July 18th. She observed me for 4 hours that morning, again something wasn't quite right but we really had no idea what was wrong. We decided that we would induce on Monday July 21st, since weekends tend to be busy. I went home and took a nap, I just didn't feel very good. My husband went to work; very clearly telling me that once he went in he wouldn't be able to leave, they lock the doors until morning. So I took my daughter to my mother's where she would spend the next week. My daughter gave me a BIG bear hug good-bye and I started gushing fluid. I realized that my water had broke even though I wasn't really having any contractions, just an occasional one here and there. I called my sister and told her to meet me at my house, this was at 9pm. I drove home, grabbed my bag, and had my sister take me to the hospital. The ER was very busy, a typical Friday night. Finally the take in nurse realized I was standing there and asked if I was in labor, when I told her yes she flipped out, called maternity and brought around a wheelchair. I still wasn't having contractions at this point. I laid around having minor contractions until 2am, when my doctor came up to check on all her patients. She noticed my water hadn't broke, but both the nurse and I assured her it had and I was still gushing fluid. Turned out that I had two separate amniotic sacs and two separate placentas, but only one baby. It was the empty sac that had broke. So she broke the other sac and then the contractions really started. At 7am she decided to start me on pitocin, she didn't want me laboring forever like I did with my daughter. At 9am, I couldn't take the contractions anymore and asked for an epidural. My husband showed up at about the time I was getting the epidural so he fell asleep in the chair while my sister fell asleep on the couch and I tried to sleep the best I could (I also hate that freaking blood pressure cuff). At about 1pm my doc said it was time to start pushing. My son was born at 1:14pm. He was immediately placed on my belly and I was able to cut the umbilical cord. He stayed in the room with us for 4 hours before going off to the nursery. We were both released from the hospital the next day.

I wouldn't trade either birth experience. After having my daughter I felt like superwoman, I could do anything after doing through that. But I was able to bond with my son immediately, even though it was nearly pain-free because of the epidural.

The first picture was taken on the 4th of July, the second was taken shortly after my son was born. I don't have any pictures of my before my daughter was born, and almost all pictures afterward, my daughter covers me up.

WOOHOO! No one make fun of me. Lol.

I think I was 215ish prepregnancy and 275lbs when I was 8/9 months, then after birth I wieghed 240, and I'm now 230. YAY BREASTMILK! Lol. I'm 5'8". My shoe size WAS 9... and now it's 10. Boo... :(

Well, my contractions [yay flippin me], started on Monday while I was at work. Thank God I got off work at 1 that day. They just felt like little menstrual cramps. So then I went home early... I didn't wanna be there any longer than I had to. The next day I went in to see my nurse after eating at IHOP ;). She had me hooked up to that fetal monitor, and I was breathing through contractions just wanting to go home and SLEEP cuz I knew real contractions weren't far off. At 1 in the morning, contractions were horrible, but I was "maning up" through them lol. I think I spent three hours in the shower, with the water turned on HIGH HEAT focused straight on my lower back cuz that's where my contractions were. It SUCKED. Lol. But the heat felt nice. Every time I got out though, they hit me like a train. I finally got out and it was 2:30 and contractions were 5 minutes apart almost on the dot. So I got up and woke my mom up [she was sleeping over on my pull out couch], and she got up and we started preparing for the hospital [the THIRD time this week, lol]. On the way there I called my friend Sarah who, poor thing, had JUST fallen asleep and was exhausted lol. But she wanted to be there with/for me, so she crawled outta bed and started to get ready. But she wanted a shower first since I told her it'd be awhile before I went into hardcore, real labor.

We go into the ER and I tell the lady I'm going into labor, thank God she didn't ask me how I knew [lol Starr]. So I went and breathed in a corner while my mom parked the car, then she came in followed shortly after by my friend who decided not to take a shower "just in case" she missed it. Ha! So then they had me in a room and said I was 2cm dilated, maybe almost 3, but not quite. I was disappointed. But they kept me there, hooked me up to an IV and gave me petossin [even though I said I didn't want it...], and asked if I needed a drug. I asked them when was it considered "too late" to get an epidural as I heard happened to a couple women. They said there's never a too late, I could get it whenever. Well, I decided it was too early and they weren't THAT bad... so I dealt with it. They gave me this other drug through my IV. It hit HARD and faded fast, I was only allowed to get it every hour. Even though it faded by 45 minutes TOPS. I remember my eyes were rolling into my head and I said some pretty weird stuff... Then I wanted the epidural BAD after two doses of the drug, and my nurse told me that I should wait cuz the lady who was doing epidurals that night was crappy at it and stuck people sometimes 3-4 times to get it right. So I decided to wait 'til the next person who did them came in... I told the nurse she was very nice, several times lol. I think she got the point.

Well, they said they'd induce labor at 12 if I didn't go in naturally. My friend went home around 4ish to take her shower and sleep 'til 11 at least. I remember dozing off at some point, then they woke me up to get an epidural at 7. It wasn't as bad as I thought, though I flinched several times and I think I was crying [I hate shots and being tired, crabby, and b!tchy didn't help]. I was only 3cm dilated by this point. So I was pretty disappointed and thought I'd have the LONGEST labor ever and I was pissed. My mom left at 8ish to go shower and take care of her house chores and maybe catch a short nap.

So then I slept. And even though I told Charles' family I wanted to SLEEP and not see anyone, his mom still came in to see me prebaby. So I was in an even darker mood after that. She came in at 10:30 too. So a nurse came in right after her and said I was 6cm dilated [I think]. And so I couldn't sleep, and I got even more ticked off at his mom lol. I sat there and irked about it. So then my mom and Sarah came in around 11, and the nurse rolled me onto my side cuz she said the cord might've gotten wrapped around Ruby's neck. My mom came in with animal crackers, and I forced her to sneak me some. I didn't care what those nurses said. Fifteen minutes later I choked them back up... So then Sarah and my mom decided they wanted lunch at 11:45 and went to the cafeteria. The doctor came in ten minutes after they left, checked and said I was at 9cm and he was going to break my water. So then I almost started crying, cuz my mom just left and I was terrified I'd have to do it alone [at this point I'm pushing THE CRAP outta my epidural button]. So then I called her, THREE TIMES, and she didn't answer. So I called my friend and she answered and I told her. So my mom left Sarah in the gift shop by herself lol, and ran up to my room. She came in the door about 12:10ish and the doctor left me with the nurse who told me what needing to push would feel like, as she rolled me back onto my back.

So then I took a wild leap at what needing to push was. Then when I went to grab my legs and pull them up, one leg wouldn't move [the leg I had been rolled over on]. And I burst out laughing my ass off. The nurse had to have my mom grab a leg and Sarah grab a leg. So then I guessed I had to push and started pushing. Took a break for like 3 breaths then said I had to go again. And it went on like that 'til 12:57PM on Wednesday May 27th [two days before term] when Ruby Ilene was born into the world. :]

They placed her on my stomach and all I could do was say, "She's purple..." Lol. So the doctor had the nurses clean her. Then I cried the entire time he stitched me back up. And I think he may have stitched me up TOO TIGHT. I think I'm back to being a damn virgin. D:

Just a guess.

1. Is a newborn Ruby [cuz I can't find any of me post labor].
2. My belly at 6 months pregnant... I never got very big. :[

I really have no idea why I thought Hispanic. There are some people on here too that I have myself convinced are black, and probably aren't, or who I assume are white, but probably aren't. I'm never right, I probably have everyone all wrong!

My husband is 100% Irish, and I'm 50% Irish, 50% Polish.
There's actually like a tiny bit of Croatian in me too, but its not enough to really count. My grandmother was I believe 50% Croatian, which would make my dad 25%, which would make me 12.5%? So Roman is only 6.25%. Not enough to count!
He's 75% Irish, 25% Polish.

AHAHAHA, you're cracking me up!

Okay. I'm thinking white girl. Kinda medium height. Taller than me, but not tall. (I'm 5'3") So 5'6" or 5'7" maybe? Average body size. Possibly really short hair (like, nape of the neck exposed) possibly a little longer, but no longer than shoulders. Most likely chin length, where you can tuck it behind your ears and it curls under them a little (like Drew Barrymore in the wedding singer, or Georgina from Girl Interrupted). Blonde.

And Keri, that's how my husband is. (100% Irish will do that to you) He's the whitest person on earth. Except maybe you, I think you guys are tied. :)
He never gets tan either, no matter how much time he spends in the sun. Even in Iraq, not a BIT of color to him.
The sun makes his freckles come out though, so it gives the ILLUSION of some color in his skin, haha.

Mind if I share? I was about 5’3” 120lbs before I got pregnant, about 150 or so at time he was born. It was 6:00 AM, the day before my due date. Hubby's and up all nighter cause of his work schedule so he had just came to bed about 5:30 AM, we "had a little fun" in the sack and then I had to go to the bathroom. As soon as I got back in bed, bam, my water broke. I ran to the bathroom and the water kept coming. I called into my hubby and said I think my water broke. He just sat there, he'd had no sleep. I called the hospital and explained, what we did and that I felt my water had broken, they said to come to be checked out (a 45 minute drive in a snow storm), I told my hubby what I told them and he just laughed and said you told them we "did it" (LOL). I was nervous, didn't know what to say. Okay so after a slow drive to the hospital and dropping out dog off at MIL's, the contractions were just starting. At the hospital they checked me and said that yes my water had broken but that there was tons more in me. So they got me a room and changed and hooked me up in all, I was still only 1 1/2 cm dilated

By mid morning my mom was here from PA and his parents were there. After taking some nice long tours of the maternity wing at the hospital and more, stronger contractions I wasn't dilated much more. About 5:00 PM I was dilated to about 8 cm but that was all he would go. I had been running a fever most all afternoon and my blood pressure was going up and down. About 8:00 PM or so they called for an epidural, had a contraction start just as the needle went it, let me tell you, that's painful. After a few more hours and another dose of epidural cause the first dose didn't take the whole way I was in a lot of discomfort. The OB Dr. came in about 12:30 AM and checked things, I was still only 8 cm dilated and very swollen. It was then decided that I was to have an emergency C section. It was rushed; like crazy everyone was running around, I was scared. In the OR as they stuck the needle in for the spinal, the last of the epidural had worn off and a major contraction came, I thought I was going to bit my tong off, I was in so much pain. The spinal made me completely numb, from head to toe, I couldn't even tell if my arms were up or down, they kept telling me to put my arms down and I said they are and they are like look at them, my arms were flying all over the place. I was so numb I couldn't feel myself breath. After what seemed like hours and the feeling that if I closed my eyes I was not going to wake up it was finally all over and my precious baby boy was born. I couldn't hold him, which I still feel so sad over, but I got to kiss his head and welcome him to our family. I couldn't feel my arms for about 3 hours, my nurses had to hold him so that I could breast feed him and my legs, well they took about 3 hours to start feeling again.

So after 19 hours of labor and all of that my little guy was born and he's strong and healthy, all I could ask for.

LOL.Well you are off on height... I am about 5' 3" with shoes on..pretty good on hair except not behind ears as I have a phobia of my ears showing because they stick out. Everyone says they don't but I have a mirror, so it stays around my face. It is about shoulder length( I am attempting it to grow it out). It is blonde though & I would say skinny-to- small average size body wise....so you were actually pretty close!!
Oh & I have to tan almost every other day like you do to be tan & I also have alot of freckles which does give the illusion of more color!

Okay this had me literally cracking up, out loud. My son is sitting on my lap drinking some milk, looking at me like I've lost my mind! Too funny!

I was 135 before and 156 at time of delivery.
I went for my 35 week check up. Doc took my BD and it was 190/120. I told him things were not right, i had been leaking water but the hospital said i wasn't and that i all of a sudden could feel EVERY LITTLE move my son made. We sent me over to the hospital for 2 hours obs. to see if my BD would come down. It didn't, he also ordered a ultrasound. It came back showing I had only 1.2 cm of fluid left in stead of 12. I was already at 1 cm. He came in at 1230 and told me they were inducing me and he broke what was left of my water. I then called Hubby from work to come up to the hospital. they gave me a shot to help my bp. At 115 they started my piticion and told me it would be midnightish or so probably. Labor progressed pretty quickly, at 4 cm hubby started in on me about getting something for the pain. It was a b**ch when it came but i was handleing it. At 5 cm my bps shot back up and the nurse told me i have two chioces call for my epidual or have a c-section. I said call for the epi. They finally got there when i was 6 cm. They gave me the first epi and it didnt kick in immediatly so they gave me a second direct shot cause i was progressing quickly. Not realizing this hubby stepped out to smoke and my MIL was there. In just a matter of a minute or less i told my MIL to get the nurse i felt like i needed to push. Ofcourse everyone was in a delivery and no on was awnsering pages ect. I'm trying to call hubby to get him back up and finally i get him and had him come back and MIL found a nurse. She checked me and i was a 8. In a minute i went from 6 - 8. Lucky me they called my doc when i got the epi, and he only lies 5 minutes away. Long story short hubby walked in as the nurse is setting up, my MIL is leaving as my doc walks in rubbing his eyes. Doc looks at me and says " so much for sleep i thought youd be way later" I replied "I can get someone else to catch" I later apologized. He sat down and i went to pushig. 3 pushes later i had my son. I went from 6 - 10 in only 5 minutes. My epi kicked in as they pulled my sons legs out. He was born at 7:54 pm. Everything took about 7 hours not the 12 the doc expected. Fayne Robert was born 5 weeks early and weighed 5.5. The nurses took him to clean him up and said he'd be back in an hour. Two hours later hubby had to go find out what was going on. After his bath we wasnt holding his temp and was beging to forget to breathe. In the nurses' defense, she was on her way to tell me when they had a emergancy. We spent one week in NICU.
1st photo - First eyes and the first time i held him
2nd - In nicu

The Jamaica picture, I'd never guess you had a kid.

I have the ''pouch'' from hell it will NOT go away ive tried everything. Alot of it is scar tissue, I had to give myself a shot there everyday for almost 7 months, but still i want it GONE!!!!!!!!!!

Starr: I know the thing about kids being born everywhere. Thank the militayr. I get a kick out of the maternity ward there. You can about figure out a depoly time table just from sitting in one :) LOL

I won't use Army drs. My husband has TriCare Prime, but my son and I have Standard so we can go anywhere. I'd rather pay and pick my own dr than have one assigned to me for free.
We get all our prescriptions filled at the hospital so they're all free, but aside from that we don't go there.

my sister in law drives me nuts. she swears by military docs. i'm like seriously i'm sure all the other docs can get the same job done. but instead she would drive and hour for every appointment and her c-section while she was pregnant.

My theory is. I don't want one of my husband's friends poking around in my crotch. What if it was our next door neighbor? How could I have a pleasant cook-out with them ever again? WEIRD!
I just like being able to pick my own dr, and know that they will ALWAYS be my dr. It won't get changed on me with no warning. (well except when we PCS obviously)

Well, Miss Blue Zoo, I haven't really gotten to know you, so all I can say is you're white and you're blonde.

the only person who has been remotely close to vision is heather. i would have never guess becca was goth. and saphira i thought was a black girl hehe, far off, you actually look like a girl i use to be friends with.

BlueZoo - Okay, at least I got part right. :) I didn't get the whale vibe, I think you're off on that part. I'm the visionary here, I would know better than you. :P

HaleysMom - Oh boy, you're tough too. I don't think I've read that many of your posts. But you're definitely white. Maybe 5'6". Short hair, above your shoulders I think. I'm thinking brown hair with highlights? Or naturally brown hair dyed blonde? Something like that... Pretty average body size. And young. Like, younger than me for sure.

I'm sure you're going to repost and tell me you're like 45, black, 4'9" and anorexic. Haha. I feel like I'm getting better at people-guessing, so I'm probably getting worse!
