Someone Please help me with the following if you can. I have no idea and am afraid if i just go off my son he may fall behind. He is almost 8 months old.

1) How many jars of baby food do you feed a day? We usually have 3, sometimes 4.
2) At what age should I give him more food and less formula?

3)Is it normal that he would want formula over food most of the time?

4) when should I introduce the sippy cup to him? I am currently giving it to him once a day or so but he shows no intrest in it.

5) what age do they hold thier bottles by thier selves? He will only if he is laying down flat and even them only some times?

6) What are the best finger foods to introduce and when?

Thanks Alot,
Heather

1) How many jars of baby food do you feed a day?
At 8 months we were only doing two jars of food a day. I did one in the morning and one in the afternoon.

2) At what age should I give him more food and less formula?
As baby becomes more interested in regular food he will automatically want less formula. I would say from my experience that happened around 9 or 10 months.

3)Is it normal that he would want formula over food most of the time?
I don't think there is a norm for this. He probably just has a preferred taste for the formula. I wouldn't worry about it.

4) when should I introduce the sippy cup to him?
I was told to start introducing the sippy at 6 months, but with my one year old we started around 8 months with very little interest from her. It wasn't until the week before she turned one that she actually started using it regularly. Even then that took a few days.

5) what age do they hold thier bottles by thier selves?
Julianna started holding her bottle at 7 months, but she never really got the hang of drinking the bottle while sitting up. She couldn't figure out how to hold the bottle up in the right position. If I wanted her to go solo I had to lay her down on the floor with it. Usually we just held her in our laps while she held her bottle to drink.

6) What are the best finger foods to introduce and when?
You can start introducing finger foods at 8 months. I would start with Gerber Puffs and cheerios. After that you can move up to some other soft foods. Crackers, shredded cheese, small pieces of bread, diced fruits like bananas, pears, nectarines or peaches, strawberries, etc.

1) How many jars of baby food do you feed a day? We usually have 3, sometimes 4.
At 8 months we were transitioning from 2nd to 3rd foods.
If he was eating 2nd foods it was 2 fruits at 1pm, 2 veg. at 4pm, 2 dinners at 7pm.
If he was eating 3rd foods, it was one of all those at the same times.

2) At what age should I give him more food and less formula?
Roman stopped wanting formula around 9 months. I switched him to whole milk at 10 months. (2 weeks ago) He's still drinking about 16-18 oz per day, plus "people foods." He eats any and everything his dad and I eat.

3)Is it normal that he would want formula over food most of the time?
I don't know. Once Roman started eating food he was pretty over his formula. I imagine all kids are different.

4) when should I introduce the sippy cup to him? I am currently giving it to him once a day or so but he shows no intrest in it.
I can't remember when we first started trying it...6 months? 7 maybe? But he HATES it. (He's 10 and a half months now) I've tried different kinds, colors, shapes, plastic lids, rubber lids, everything under the sun, he's just not a fan. I just got this one that is a sippy cup with handle, but it has a nipple top. It also comes with a nipple-like top shaped like a sippy cup top, to help transition. We're working on that one now.

5) what age do they hold thier bottles by thier selves? He will only if he is laying down flat and even them only some times?
I think Roman started at six months. But he'll only do it if he's laying alone. He's just lazy, and won't do it if we're holding him, he expects us to do it for him.

6) What are the best finger foods to introduce and when?
I think we started around 7 or 8 months. We used the puffs and all the little Gerber graduates snacks. The puffs and the biscuits were his favorite. We don't have a whole lot of "do it yourself" foods because Mom hates the messes. ;) I just feed him with a fork most often.
