HI, my grandson 6 months old has twice now put the back side of his bink in his mouth and it was stuck (really bad) he cried i cried just pulling it out. I don't know if cutting the ring off is the answer OR is there a brand were this wont happen? I will await your replies.

Oh my. My first quesion is, are you using the right size? I used advent forever. The older they are the bigger they get. They design them for that not to happen. Try getting the next size up. I think they are 0-3, 3-6, etc. Although some brands run 0-6 and 6-12 etc. If you have to, take it away. 6 months is the perfect age for that anyway. From what I understand, after they are 6 months old they start getting pretty attached. I just recently took my daughters away and she is 18 months! At first I was going to take it away at 6 months but she slept so well with it. And then I gradually took it away. She only got it at nap and bedtime. Then only at bedtime. Then not at all. Let us know what you decide to do.

The name on the one in front of me is NUK, his dad did go out yesterday and buy the next size up but I am not convinced that is the answer. OH and I did say I was the grandmother correct?? So I will not be taking anything away! My daughter is a great mom and is also looking for answers on why this is happening. I will go look for the brand you mentioned. Thanks for responding.

Perhaps suggest one without the ring? I think Avent has ones minus the ring, or I found these online: http://www.amazon.com/RaZbaby-Keep-it-Kleen-Pacifier-Percy-Puppy/dp/B001BKMEQ6/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=baby-products&qid=1246920960&sr=8-3

I would consider buying a button style pacifier. On the babies r us site, I saw that NUK makes a ring pacifier and a button pacifier, so I'd assume that they had the same type of pacifier tip. Otherwise, MAM and Soothie pacifiers (maybe others, too) don't have the rings. Also, you might want to contact the manufacturer to let them know what has happened.
