I think if he gets offended then he's just being oversensitive and selfish.
Your child is your number one priority, and you need to do whatever it takes to keep him safe.
If your husband wants to stand guard at all the doors in your house throughout the entire night, let him go for it. But I bet he doesn't, so definitely get a security system!
Explain to him, Ian's safety is all that matter's not his own pride.

I would look into it. I know how quickly things can happen if someone breaks in. Not that it has happened to me but I know someone that it did happen to. It is not that he wouldn't do things to protect you all but he can't be with every family member at all times. It is just one more thing to help him do his job of protecting.

You never know until you ask. He may not even be offended, and he may completely agree with you!
I don't believe it's that hard to comprehend or accept. Honey, after what happened I have been a nervous wreck. I just don't want to be home alone and something happen. Or even if we are all home, what if we don't hear something and the worst may or could happen. It's not that shocking because there are some crazy people who would break in with a full house, if they are fully prepared. Even if we are prepared with a weapon what if we don't get to it in time? I think it may be best if we look into home security! What do you think?

I'm not sure how much it costs, but if he says it's too expensive... just tell him, well it's nice to know what you're not willing to pay for our family... hehe!

Well if it does offend him, think about an outside dog. They're pretty good at scaring people off and you don't even have to admit why you want one.

How terrible! Your privacy must feel violated. You should be rewarded for thinking of all the options to protect your family. You have to be safe nowadays.

Think of a great way to approach your hubby about this. Like what? I wouldnt start by getting the estimates if you are afraid of offending him. Does anyone of your neigbors have a system? Ask him what he thinks about that. Or open up with..."I saw an "ADT(or fill in the blank) commercial on tv today and......"

That's great! And slap myself, I didn't think about the outside dog part! That's a good choice too! But whatever it takes to make you and your family safe!

And, btw, for what I said about snapping back at him if he were to say no, Yeah, probably not a good choice. Say what you have to say, listen to how he responds and continue talking about it til there's an agreement, whatever it maybe.
Ofcourse in the heat of a conversation... I probably would be a tad snappy... yuck! Oh well! :( ;)
