Did you love being pregnant? Would you like to give the gift of parenthood to a couple?

My husband and I have both dedicated our lives to children so it's somewhat ironic that we can't have one of our own. We are both special education teachers in Washington DC. In addition we teach afterschool classes and tutor. My husband also hosts children's birthday parties. I volunteer in the pediatric unit at a local hospital. Due to my health issues (mechanical heart valve and blood clotting disorder), I'm too high risk to carry a pregnancy (our "ingredients" are fine). Because we are teachers, we're having a difficult time affording a surrogate (we'd like to have money to raise the child too). 6 amazing women have stepped up so far to volunteer to be our carrier but all we're ruled out due to health issues or non-supportive spouses. I know we're asking for a lot, but if you or someone else you know might have room in their heart to help us achieve our dream of becoming parents, we'd love to hear from you. Ideally, that person would be doing it for altruistic reasons.

I'm not your surrogate, but would like to encourage you to look into adoption. I know it is expensive, but don't know the details. I was adopted and in case you were wondering from an adoptive point of view, I could not love my parents more! (My Mom is also a teacher). I would like to wish you the best of luck in your search and hope you will be parents soon!!!

If you honestly are searching for a surrogate I would recommend that you talk to your OB and see if they can help you get on the right path. This is a situation where you would want to be able to meet and spend time with the person who you want to carry your child.
Also, do either of you have siblings? If one of you has a sister or sister-in-law have you thought about asking them?

i would like to know what you expect from a surrogate, obviously, other than carring the baby. i love being pregnant but i had preeclampsia with my last and delivered at 36 weeks which is'nt as bad as some that i heard. he was very healthy when he was born. I consider myself religious and would like to know more maybe i could help in some way.
