Son won't listen

I have a 5 1/2 year old son who will be starting school in Aug. For some reason the last few weeks he has gotten to where he will not listen to anything I say. What am I supposed to do? We put him in the corner but it still doesn't work. HELP!!!!!

Have you been giving him praise for ggod behavior you want to see more of? This in my opiniojn is the key to getting a 5yo to behave. I tell my son all the time how proud he makes me when he's behaving, or does what I ask him to do. If for any reason I need to punish him I let him come to the realization that he deserves it by himself by asking him quwstions until he sees his behavior was wrong. For example: "Did you clean your room?" "No." "Didn't mommy tell you that you would be grounded if you didn't clean it?" "Yes." "So now becasue you didn't do it, mommy has to ground you." So and so forth. It seems to be working so far. He's listening better. Good luck.
