Hello! I recently had my first baby (currently 3 months) and he is still sleeping in his bassinet in my bedroom. My DH wants our son to start sleeping in his own room. I told him to wait one more month because I just feel secure having close by. Am I waiting to long? Am I just making matters worse by waiting?

Thanks!

I don't think you're waiting too long or making things worse. I think one of the most important things is that YOU feel comfortable with whatever choice you make.

With that said -- I had the same fears when I moved our daughter from our room to her own room and she was 8 weeks. I was also afraid it was too early, but my sister assured me it was safe as long as I felt comfortable.

I tried to ease her into the new environment by letting her play in her crib during the day while I was folding laundry on the floor nearby or cleaning up the area. And I started with just naps during the day before trying to get her into the entire night. It seemed to really make a difference to our daughter; she almost immediately began sleeping better which meant so did we. I also ran a fan in her room and the white noise definitely comforts her - even now.

I think whatever you decide will be the right choice.
