View Full Version : Day care issues for 1 yr old
Our one yr old son wants to be constantly held or interacted with at day care. He keeps crawling and following one of the teachers. Also has started crying a lot when we drop him off in the morning. At home, he is fine and plays on his own without much attention
This started just a week ago, perhaps because he was at home for 2-3 weeks and may have lost his familiarity with the day care.
Any help?

Thats probably the cause, if he hasn't been there in a while, he may have missed his daycare providers, and is trying to make up with it, just as he would with you if you were gone for a couple days...

He may just be missing you since he hasn't been there in awhile. Most kids like being on a routine. It really helps them to know whats going on. I know when my son was going part time in daycare he would cry when he was left because he was used to being with mommy so much. So it takes time. It takes time to get back in the routine. Also it may be separation anxiety. Most kids go through it one time or another. When they are young it just takes time. My daughter wont go to anyone but me. I will have a hard time with her when she goes to school. I am able to stay at home so she is really used to just being with me. Every couple weeks she goes to a ladies house that watches other children so she can be with other children and get away from me for a day. That helps a little bit. It just takes time. They just miss the famliarty for being with you. Hope it works out for you.

About that he cries a lot when you drop him off in the morning – Make the goodbye quick but always reassure him that you will come back and fetch him later before you go, it builds trust and normally makes the crying disappear faster. It will soon pass
