Ok so i have a one month old and have stoped all the gasy foods in my diet. My lil one is still farting as much as her dad and crying like it hurts. She crys a lot when she is awake, but is also gassy. I don't know what to do. I breastfeed and don't want to go to formula, but is that my oly hope. I have tried the drops, I don't see any change at all. I want to stay breastfeeding because her dad has bad food allergies and i have been told this is the best thing to do!!!! Someone please give me advice. I have googled everything on this. Our nights are soooooo hard and it is starting to get to me. I feel soooo bad for her.

With my 1st son, I would actually do a little bit of diluted 7up with water. It seemed to help some. I hope it changes soon!

I feel for you! I was there with my daughter. I went on the total elimination diet and got to a point where I had a plain grilled chicken breast at every meal, nothing else. Nothing seemed to help her, it was so rough. I finally changed her over to formula at 6 weeks because I just couldn't handle it anymore. Even when we put her on formula, we had to change her twice before the pediatrician finally put her on Nutramigen which was special pre-digested to help her. It made a HUGE difference; in 24hrs it was a like a totally different baby.

We did the drops, as well as some chamomile (sp) tea in a bottle in the evenings which seemed to help a little.

My husband too has horrible allergies, and I wanted to breastfeed for as long as possible. Thats the thing about raising a baby - our best laid plans come second to their reality. :)

Good luck!!! This too shall pass.....

I have a question, how is her poop? Is it soft or hard? My daughters have always had problems with hard poop (due to soy formula) and they had bad gas problems as well. Now that we have their bowels normal again, I rarely notice gas problems.

When my oldest daughter was a baby she was very gassy and had very bad colic. The gas drops never helped, BUT what did help tons was colic tablets. They are a homeopathic. They are made by the same people that make those teething tablets but they are for colic. THEY ARE AWESOME! They dissolve in the babys mouth. Even after her colic left if she would start to get really fussy and we couldn't figure out what was wrong we would give her a couple of her colic tablets and before long she calmed down. Hope this helps!

My son is now 10 months old, I just bf him for the last time on Saturday...I was trying to make it to 1 yr but cannot stand the elimination diet anymore. He has a milk protein allergy which is what is sounds like with your little one. I would recommend doing the elimination diet and trying to narrow down what she is allergic to. Mine ended up being just dairy but that cuts out lots of things. I know you said her poop looks normal but does it look stringy at all, like snot or mucos is in it? If so, that means that there is a problem. You can take one of her dirty diapers to your pediatrician and they can test it for blood, caused by an irritated bowels...You can continue breastfeeding if you are dedicated to it but it is hard work. Good luck!
