So the pediatrician said to go ahead and start solids at anytime with the munchkin last week. She told me to start rice cereal for two weeks then move to veggies, then fruits after two weeks after that.
My mother, though, thought that two weeks before starting veggies seemed a little short. Of course she said to go by what the pediatrician says because they know best (and well she said 'back in the olden days things were different'; thanks for making me feel old mom! :p ). She's just worried that it might be rushing things. But now I'm worried because originally the pediatrician said 'Start with rice cereal for two months.' then corrected herself and said two weeks.
For me, it doesn't matter, two weeks or two months, I'm in no rush. John Gabriel started actually EATING the cereal yesterday; it only took us three days to figure out how to do it (getting the consistency right for me, getting used to the spoon and swallowing for him) and oddly, he seems to like the taste of it (I thought it tasted just icky myself) so I'm willing to continue as long as should be on just that. But I was wondering what other moms were/had done with the rice cereal.
