Hello. My son is 5 years old and has recently been exhibiting some odd behavior's away from home. Two weeks ago he went to the bathroom in the babysitter's backyard. Today I got a call from his preschool teacher that he pulled his pants down on the school bus and exposed himself. He has been a difficult child for the past 2-3 years, but this is something totally new. I just wonder if it's something I should really worry about or if other's have had the same experience. It seems a little disturbing to me, but also it just seems like something a 5 year old would do. Can anyone help or offer opinions/suggestions, etc?? Thank you!

The link I gave you above comes from a parent asking the same thing. It basically says that this is normal behavior between the ages of 4-6. Kids explore themselves, and sometimes they explore with other children of the same age. The important thing is to not make a big deal out of it, and just tell him that they are called private parts because you're not suppose to show them to everyone.

Chances are that he urinated in the backyard becasue he has seen someone he looks up to do it, or someone at one time let him do it when a toilet wasn't available.

If it was something you should worry about. There would be other signs. Such as other reports of this nature in a more agressive way.
