Every night when we get home from day care, he starts in with the crying and yelling at the same time 4:30-5:00. He is fine when i pick him up, it's just when we get home he goes to the fridge and starts in. What can I do to stop this behavior, it is every night except on weekend when we are home all day. Any advice will be gladly taken.

My DD is the same. I feel your pain! I've read that this behavior is actually a compliment to us parents. I know, do you feel all warm and complimented during those evenings? Anyway, I've read that they are having to act a certain way (behaved) all day at daycare and once they get home they can just let loose so to speak. They trust that we love them unconditionally, and they can let their frustration out.

Also, I've noticed with my daughter that they play non stop all day with kids their own age, only down time is at nap time. That makes for some worn out cranky kiddos at the end of the day. It has helped my DD when I take 20-30 minutes when we first get home to sit down with her 1 on 1. No tv, no busy tumbling. Sometime we read books, sometimes we just sit and chat over a healthy snack. All the chores that need to be done scream at me the whole time, but my DD is top priority, chores will still be there.

This hasn't been a magic bullet, she still throws her fits, but it does help. And once dinner is over, we do some major horseing around to get her all tuckered for bath time.

You aren't alone in this phase!!

Daycares usually do lunchtime around noon, and then a small snack in the afternoon. I would suggest he is hungry, and is trying to let you know this. Try feeding him a snack when you get home to hold him over until dinner.

Both of my kids want to snack as soon as we get home, even though they just had snacks at daycare within the last hour and a half! They'll whine all the way to dinner, so I just give them something light to munch on and they are satisfied.
