LiddleBoy's Momma

Hey, everyone - I am new to this forum. My son was officially diagnosed with asthma at 5 1/2. For the past year, I've convinced myself he (we) were getting better (with the use of inhalers & various other meds). However, a recent visit to his pediatrician said otherwise. He has had all of his asthma meds increased and other meds added in. The child who was once the fastest in the class, can barely out run his 3 yr old brother. He was so devastated by the fact he had to go on more medicine and increase his dosage. Thankfully, he is a wonderful child, who takes his meds faithfully & w/out problems.
We've had him allergy tested, and nothing significant came up. In fact, we are having trouble finding his specific triggers. We know of some like exercise (and he is extremely active), cold weather, damp weather, etc. We have been with his ENT (who has an allergist in house) since he was 1 1/2 yrs old. We have wonderful doctors (specialist & ped) who are doing everything they can to help. He has had 4 ear tube surgeries, the most recent 3 wks ago. Even though everyone is doing what they can - I can't help but feel sad and frustrated for my son. And to make matters worse my mil refuses to acknowledge that he has asthma - because I've never had to take him to the ER with an asthma attack.
I just wanted to connect with other moms out there who might be experiencing something similar to me.
