My almost 5 MO son has started solids (cereal, and now eating yellow/org veggies), and is doing great with them. He eats it up! He is eating about 2 Tbsp cereal in the morning, 1 Tbsp Cereal and 1/2 jar veggies for luncha and dinner. My ped said he also needs to be drinking 30-34 oz of formula a day, but he refuses! He maybe clears 15-20. Ive tried cutting back on the amt of solids hes eating, and giving a bottle instead, but now hes refusig that too-and only wants solids. Im afraid he's not getting enough fluids. Is it too early to start diluted juices? Anyone else dealing with this? How to get the LO to start drinking the bottle AND eating?

You could try offering only the bottle in between food. I don't know, that's my best suggestion at the moment. Maybe someone else will have a better suggestion. Getting them to eat is such a confusing battle sometimes. Good luck.

I'm going through something similar with my 7 month old. First of all, I'd check out this link: http://www.babyzone.com/baby/nutrition-chart.pdf
It REALLY helped me figure out what I needed to plan to make sure my guy was getting all he needed. My son barely clears 24 oz. a day, but the chart says it's fine, and he's 20 lbs. and growing, so I think it's true. Also, in order to get a little more formula in there, I put a scoop in his breakfast oatmeal (tastes good, actually!) and in his dinner cereal, as well. Then he "eats" 4 more oz. a day with his food. As for not taking the bottle at all, maybe if you try a sippy cup? You may have to pay more attention to your baby's food groups if he really is going to wean himself, but just make sure he's gaining weight and happy, and isn't eating junk, and he'll be just fine.

my 7.5 month old son has been rejecting his bottle lately too. he only wants food! however, i discovered a way to get him to take in his formula. when he doesnt finish his bottle and has only drank 3-4 oz of milk, i take the leftover formula in the bottle and pour it out into a bowl and mix oatmeal cereal in it and feed it by spoon to him. he usually eats it all so thats how i get him to still drink his milk because i dont know any other way to make him drink his milk. he only wants food so my way of doing it is to add cereal in it! hope this helps!
