Do they go away when you start losing weight. My belly looks like a deflated watermelon :(
My baby is 15 months old. I was at 206lbs when I had him and I'm down to 158. I am back to my weight before I was pregnant but these stretch marks are horrible!!!

Hey,
Well I'm not sure if there is any magical potion that makes strecth marks go away, but I do know there are some products at any local pharmacy that help. However, I don't know from my own experience how well they work.
My baby is 5 months old. I'm Mexican and once we deliver it's in our belief to immediately use some type of girdle. It is said to help you reduce your "deflated watermelon" and reduce your stretch marks. I didn't believe it until i tried it my self. I'm not sure if it was the girdle or that I'm 23 but my stretch marks are going away quite fast, and my flabby stomach is reducing to how nice it was before. You should try some vitamin E, Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula, or a medela product for stretch marks. You can also try a girdle or some type of body shaper, it's a little uncomfortable at first but you'll get use to it, hopefully :-P
Hope this helps.... Take Care!!

Whether you get them and how your body responds to them is completely genetic, there is no cream or product you can put on them that will make them disappear.
They DO fade over time. Instead of being bright red/purple, they become white, but it can literally take years. The best thing you can do is learn to live with them and try not to let them bother you. I got TERRIBLE stretch marks when I was only 15 years old due to a puberty growth spurt (I was terribly underweight and then bam, boobs, hips, growth all over). I have them on my breasts, hips, inner thighs, even the backs of my calves and upper arms. You just learn to live with them.

I'm the mother of a 5 month old boy and I'm hoping that my stretch marks will fade. I have very light ones on my belly but very dark ones on my side. Over the last month I have been using 100% pure vitamin E oil that I got from CVS for $8.99 along with Bio Oil. I can say that I have noticed the stretch marks on my side lighten up. I guess you have to use these produts for a long amount of time to see better results. Hope this helps :)

The best remedy for stretch marks is.....learning to DEAL WITH THEM!! Mine have faded off my stomach almost completely, but for some reason I have them on the back of my KNEES and they are still red!!!I have discovered though that it doesn't mean you are fat, or were fat, or anything like it. Almost everyone has stretch marks. They come from lots of things; puberty and growth, weight gain, weight loss, pregnancy expansion..... Just accept them because they aren't a big deal. They are just scars!

I think it is comforting to know that other women out there have learned to live with their new mom bodies. The Entertainment industry does not help a bit with movie stars popping babies and looking better than before, and most importantly they make it appear as if they look that way effortlessly.

I love my stretchmarks... they are all over my tummy and sides and a few on my inner thighs.... I did EVERYTHING to avoid getting them, but I also tried to get pregnant for 3 years and know this comes with it I guess you can think of it as a natural tattoo... but without all the questions and regret! But US Weekly page 85 of the April 6th issue said, "the excimer laser triggers stretch marks to produce pigment, masking grooves cost is high $200-$400 per session with 10 sessions needed and lasts for 2 years or to try an at home retinol cream."

a dermatologist said that stretch marks are caused by "sudden" stretch of the skin whether you become pregnant, fat, or whatever...there was also this pregnancy myth that if you scratch your preggy tummy you'll get those awful marks. i had my CS 15months ago and still now im still depriving myself in wearing those bathing suits i love because of these stretch marks i have. i haven't tried anything yet but a regular lotion/skin moisturizer. is there any other way to get rid of this without cosmetic or medical procedure?

Thank you all so much for your responses. I shouldn't complain, I should be happy with them. I had two m/c before my son and he's my little miracle. I want to get back into my bathing suit :) Thanks again.. I guess it comes with the joys of being a mommY :)

I am very proud of my stretch marks i called them my "maternity's crown". That always reminds that i've brought a life into this world how cool is that??i don't pay attention to those commercials saying they are ugly or what!!!for me it's like having big breasts because of the breastfeeding

I think it's time more so than the products that make them lighten up. I agree with a previous post...it's genetics, not products that dictate how your body will handle stretch marks. Also, make sure you're hydrated. Your body tends to handle things much better when you're adequately hydrated.

I have stretch marks on my inner thighs that go down to behind my knees and my calves a bit, also on my breasts. I used to freak out and think, OMG I'm so ugly now. But I got over it. Besides, I've been working on weight loss and getting back into shape and I doubt anyone will be looking at my stretch marks when I'm strutting my stuff in my bikini. My baby girl is 7mths now and I'm 8 pds away from pre-pregnancy weight. Every few days I put my bikini on and remind myself why I'm watching my calories and exercising. But, one thing I'm kind of sad about are my breasts. They just look so sad now, they were so full and luscious. Now they look like half full water balloons. And the stretch marks don't help them any. Field trip for a lift and/or boob job ladies?

my breasts are definitely what i miss most. no more perkiness... :( never thought i'd be okay with a boob job, but someday i just might consider it.

I think if you get a tan over the stretch marks they fade quite a bit!!!!!! Try a nice little tanning bed!!

They stretch marks are genetic but i come from a long line of women who had horrific stretch marks some to the point of bleeding and so when i found out that i was pregnant i started using bio oil recommended by a family member and did not get a single stretch mark anywhere. My cousin used it on her stretch marks after pregnancy on the back of her legs from hip to toes and within a month they were white and within 2 months you could no longer see them but word to the wise it is oily true to its name and you have to use it religiously but i will do it again on my next pregnancy too... hope this helps someone

I have growth strech marks as well, on my inner thighs, on my hips, my boobs, the sides of my thighs and butt. its from growing fast. they faded and I barely notice them anymore. ive used cocoa butter and scar serums and i dont think they did anything. Depending on genetics they may fade over time but its a part of life and its created by your baby. they are beautiful :)

Awesome attitude Mel! Mine dont bug me as much. The older I became, the more I let it go. I am no Britney Spears anymore and now my priority is my kids. I've accepted stretch marks as part of motherhood. I love my babes!

okay, so i know people say to accept the stretch marks...but im tired of looking like a freaking tiger. does anyone know ANYTHING that will make them at LEAST fade? i mean...we have spaceships, touchscreen EVERYTHING, lyposuction....COME ON! they can make something that gets rid of them. i have them (bright red) on my tummy, my sides, my boobs, thighs, down my leg, behind my knees, etc. im one huge stretch mark. when you're like this you cant live with it. my self esteem is so low right now. but i know some people feel the same way i do. i mean, i just had my baby a month ago and i was 190lbs prepregnancy and before the baby popped out i was 220lbs. now im like....idk 195-200lbs. but im saggy. and gross. someone want to help me pull up some confidence? maybe help me out? because god knows i need it.
