hes so gassy!

i a a 17 year old mom, i am breastfeeding my now 6 week old baby Cason. He lets them out and they sound like adults! he is constantly gassy from both ends he gets fussy cause he gets stomach aches and you can feel the gas turning in his stomach. everybody says breastfeeding is the best.. does anyone else have these problems and how do i make it easier foe him to pass the gas?

It's probably because he's swallowing air... though they say the foods you eat can cause the baby to be gassy (not sure if I buy that line of thinking....)

I usually gently rub my son's tummy in a clockwise motion after he eats for at least 30 seconds if not longer then put him up on my shoulder to burp him. The rubbing brings up the gas bubbles to the top of his stomach. Also I've learned it's usually not one burp but two with him.
Then, if I'm not expecting him to sleep, I sit him up and play with him (or just holding him sitting upright) for a bit so he can get any gas out that might be lingering... or have him under his play gym so he gets his little legs going. Tummy time will also get out the burps.
