My daughter got my husband's insane allergies unfortunately. We started her on Zyrtec by prescription when she was only 4 months old because her allergies were so bad. I honestly didn't think it made that much of a difference at first, but now (she's 17 mo) I know it makes a huge difference. Clears up the runny nose, sneezing, watery eyes, and helps her appetite since she doesn't get all full in the tummy on icky mucus (gross).
Anyway, that's what we have our daughter on and it helps. WHile it is over the counter now, which is so much more convenient, I would still talk to your pediatrician about it since your son is so young. Our little girl is taking 1/2 teaspoon, which is half the dose on the bottle. Talk to the dr. before you start such a young one on an allergy medicine.

My daughter gets watery eyes from her allergies when they act up - watery enough to look like she crying. But, she also had some really watery eyes at the beginning of an eye infection. If it doesn't clear up, I would talk to your pediatrician. If it clears up and then comes back, again - talk to your pediatrician. Could be seasonal allergies, could be an infection setting in, could be something else.
