There's nothing like a group of fired up, crazy-passionate moms to get something done, and when it comes to our kids' education in particular, there's no shortage of work to be done. Mom Congress, a Parenting initiative with Georgetown University -- our education provider -- and you, is here to help you make the changes you want in your local schools, and for kids nationwide.

Is homework overload ruining your family time? Are budget cuts threatening to balloon class size? Is your school's interpretation of a healthy lunch nachos and fries? Our kids deserve better, period.

Through Mom Congress, you can connect with other parents to share your concerns, swap ideas, and shout about successes in your district. And you'll have the ear of some of the top education leaders in the country through our advisory board. But this is only the beginning.

And don't forget to take advantage of Georgetown University's School of Continuing Studies offer. They're developing courses just for Mom Congress, and they'll award 10 scholarships each semester.

I am a teacher and mom. I have been very fortunate to be able to work from home since I had my oldest son over six years ago. Every day I realize how lucky I am that this has worked for me and I wish more moms could have this option. I am thrilled to see Melinda George from PBS TeacherLine on your panel. I facilitate courses for TeacherLine and it is one of the reasons I have been able to stay home all of these years. I look forward to some great conversation here!

Why is it a single mother of 2, that works a full time job can not register her 4 year old into pre school because I make 1500 dollars to much before taxes. they don't take into account health care, and everything else that comes out of my check. but yet a convictided ex inmate who doesn't work, can register thier son for school. so there child gets a head start, and the benifits a year earlier because there parent wants to commit crimes. Mad MOM

I am so happy to have discovered this site! I look forward to the sharing of information. I want to be more enlightened and end up with a backpack full of tools to make our schools the best they can be!

Ptapeep in the house, been posting quite a bit! Supposed to be on Spring Break this week with the kids, but you know, education never takes a vacation!
