Just wondering if you are collecting anything to give to your child when they are older. I'm doing the usual X-mas ornament thing, but considering something she might really like when she is an adult, like vintage earrings or something...any ideas, thoughts...

I have a stash of forever staps and plan to add to it every couple of months. I'm hoping he'll have about 100 books by the time he goes to college.

I love the idea of collecting something special for them when they get older but I havent started anything like that. The only thing I do is get him savings bonds. He is 14 months and already has about $900 in savings bonds. Whenever we have change or a couple extra dollars we put it in his piggy back and it adds up pretty fast! Maybe I will do the ornament thing too.

When I was about school-age, my mom gave me a box of jewelry. Not expensive stuff, just fun, kinda funky jewelry. I kept that box forever! It was great for last-minute costumes, dress up, etc. I have started a box for my daughters. I stash the jewelry that has gone out of style or I just don't wear anymore. I'm hoping they will think it is special, just like I did.

Oh you are is so sweet!
I did the same thing for my daughter. I bought her a snow-globe every year for the first 5 years of her life. This was my tradition for her.
Then I had a boy and wanted to do vintage firetrucks. I havent done it. Should I?

collecting something for your child is a sweet idea. i haven't started anything yet but i want to. at least with his toys. like all disney characters, or lego, or hot wheels whatever. it's hard for me to think of something since my child is a boy. i guess it's easier for us moms to collect something for our daughters...talk about "girl thing" :)
