I just found out I was pregnant after trying for over 4 years. I have a 9 year old and I feel like I have never done this before. Anyone else feeling they should "know it all, but know nothing"?

well first off CONGRATS! 4yrs is a long time!!
but my son will be turning 2 soon and i know it hasnt been that long for me and i feel like im gonna be a new mom! im reading all my books again thinking "what? i dont remember that?" so no your not alone......

I know how you feel. I have a seven year old son and now I am having another baby. I feel like I can't remember a thing about preparing for the baby or what comes afterwards.

It's been almost 11 years since I was pregnant and things have really changed! I am with you- I feel completely out of my element and lost. I also tried for almost four years and when the meds became too much we adopted a wonderful daughter 4 years ago. Family done, life moving on. So here I am- Infertile and suddenly my body wants to play "normal". I almost fainted when I saw the positive test. I want to call my fertility clinic and ask for my money back LOL. We had just moved and I got rid of ALL my baby things and clothes. UGH! Scared out of my mind but so excited I still have my head in the clouds!

My son is 9 years old and he can pretty much take care of himself! I was trying for 4 years and came to the acceptance that I just wasn't going to have any more children and was about to buy a motorcycle and travel cross country! I found out during vacation in the Florida Keys..I was elated and devastated at the same time! I am so nervous and I have forgotten pretty much everything about "babies" so I grabbed one of my friends as much as I could to get the hang of it and the only thing I remembered I didn't like was the "No Sleep"factor! Other than that I all comes back to you..Just like riding a bike!lol

I am with you on that- I have a daughte that will be 6 in Jan, and I will be having my 2nd child in June. I feel like this is all so new to me everything has changed or i just forgot. i get ill with the doc b/c he expects me to know or he will leave out things and say o well i know you are up to date on this all since this is your number 2. I am nervous and excited all over again. Glad to have ppl to share that with!

i had my son n 2004 and i agree it feels with baby #2 like i havent did this before...i went to childbirth classes for the 2nd time it helped to alleivate some of my fears

I have had three children in a little over 3 years and here we are with our 4th and I think that maby I finally might not have but a couple questions. Take it from one who has been there three times quite rapidly, there is always more to learn.

I know how you ALL feel. I'm an old pro at being pregnant, but it's likeevery time I notice something I fly to the computer or a book to make sure it's normal. And as I haven't gotten this far since 2004 and haven't had a baby since 2002, I feel like a first-time mom all over again. Every time I read about my baby's development and what my body's doing this week or next week it takes me by surprise.
I'm more in tune with my body, though. I usually notice a change in my body a few days to a week before it's mentioned in my pregnancy calendar or pregnancy books. I've already felt the first flutters of quickening, and I'm only in week 14. I'm a month ahead on that.
