Sorry to hear about all the ear infections! I know how rough those can be. :(
My DD had tubes put in at 13 mo. Like you, I was very apprehensive. But, everything I read and was told said it was best for her. She had been on antibiotic after antibiotic, was experiencing mild hearing loss due to fluid build up, wasn't sleeping well since she was in pain most of the time, etc. I figured getting tubes put in couldn't make it worse than it already was for her!!
It was a piece of cake! The surgery was only a few minutes and we noticed a total difference in her that night. It made all the difference in the world!! The hardest part was her coming out of the meds after the surgery (she was inconsolably pissed, which they had warned us about but nothing can prepare you for how strong and mad such a little person can be!) and getting used to putting ear plugs in for bath time. We ultimately purchased a pair of 'custom' plugs from the ENT that work so good - way better than what we had bought at the store (foam / wax).
Her tubes just fell out this past December and ear infections started all over again, one right after the other. Sooooo, back in for a second round of tubes and have the aednoids taken out. Again, apprehensive. This was a bit more extensive of a surgery. But, again, it worked out great!!! Took her longer to recover, but made such a difference.
I am just glad she isn't in pain anymore. That broke my heart!
Best of luck, I'm sure it will all work out!!
