I was wondering if anyone knows how to get 'baby vomit/urine' smells out of a cot mattress... I have just gotten my cot back from my sister-in-law who had borrowed it for her child, and the mattress smells - I don't think she used a matress protector on it.
I have washed the cover, but am unsure what to do with the matress itself. I would prefer a non-chemical solution if possible - does anyone know if bicarb soda works dry, or would I need to wet the mattress? Any other suggestions? Money is tight, so I would prefer to not have to get a new one....

I don't know if it will work on the mattress, but I alway use baking soda on the carpets if my kids have accidents or if they vomit. I shake it on, then let it sit for a bit before I vacuum it up. Putting it out in the sun may help too, if you have any sun around! We are snowed in again!

I know you'd prefer no chemicals, but Febreeze works really well on my car seats and on the kids' mattresses to freshen up and kill dust mites.
