Bitting???

My LO is 2 months old and I know I have a while before she has any teeth... I'm kind of worried because I'm not sure what to expect since this is my 1st time acctually BF... Do any of you have any advise, tips and or suggestions???

Usually when my son bit, I would say "no" and take him off the breast for a moment (enough to let him get a little riled up) and then resume feeding him. Try not to react too strongly. It can hurt a lot to get bit, but if you yell, it can cause nursing problems if you have a sensitive baby.

I agree with eniese. When my dd bit (pre-teeth) I would tell her ""NO BITE" and take her off for a minute or so. She'd usually get upset but then she wouldn't bite anymore. I think I got pretty luck b/c she was never really a biter, even after she started getting teeth.

Don't worry about the future. My DD bit me exactly twice, both times when she was about 3 months old (not old enough to get it). Once she startled and bit me by accident and the other time, I don't know what went through her brain. Lots of babies never bite so don't worry about something that may never happen to you.

The general advice is what the other ladies have said: say no and interrupt the nursing session to make your point.

my first daughter only bit once in a while. a good friend of mine said to press your infants face into your breasts so that he/she has to let go of the boob (when you cover your baby's nose, they will automatically open their mouth- not trying to suggest suffocating your babe :) ). Worked like a charm.
